2026 Hobie Tiger Nationals done and dusted.
True old school Langebaan conditions, 20-30 knots.
Racing was called off on the last day, after recording 30 knots.
The event was not without drama. Duncan Ross in the spotlight again, getting T-boned…πŸ₯© Racing was paused while he got a replacement hull and then had to source a daggerboard too. After he finally launched, his main sail hook snapped. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ Eish !
Well done to the community for getting him sailing again .
Duncan was given redress after the protest hearing.

Blaine Dodds does it again !
What a true gentleman and an ambassador for the sport of sailing. He keeps his nose clean and goes fast in the right direction, complemented by Andrew Ward as crew.
- 1st Blaine Dodds & Andrew Ward.
- 2nd William & Douglass Edwards.
- 3rd Duncan Ross & Hein
- 4th Richard Ayres & Graham Offord.
Thanks to the competitors for travelling far and wide to the event.
60% of the fleet was made up of mostly KZN and Vaalie boats.
Well done to Anthony Mc Millan and Luke Wagner on their debut, finishing a solid 6th. πŸ’ͺ🏼
Well done newcomers To Paul and Jacqui for keeping the mast pointing to the sky in the hectic conditions.
There is a new stronghold of Tigers at Midmar dam in KZN, watch this space.
The KZN and Vaalies are working on a new series of Raid style long haul races.

Big thanks to the hosts; organisers, sponsors and all the families for their sacrifices and support.
See you on the water …

We found this photo in our archives recently. Tells an incredible story of Hobie's sail design history. Lets see if who out there has shots of any of these sails in action.
