Congratulations to Paige Badenhorst and Chris Baxter on their selection to represent South Africa at World Cup 3 in Lucerne, Switzerland (26–28 June) and the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames River in the United Kingdom (30 June – 5 July).

We also congratulate Andy Grant on his appointment as South Africa’s National Rowing Coach.

A proud moment for our rowing section and for the club as a whole. We wish Paige, Chris and Andy every success in the months ahead.

A strong week for Old Eds Squash! πŸ’ͺ

While Old Eds A enjoyed a well-earned bye, Old Eds B delivered a dominant 16–3 victory over Wanderers A, climbing the standings and keeping the momentum rolling.

Our Ladies' fixture against Western Rackets 1 was postponed, with the team now looking ahead to their clash against Northcliff this week.

Congratulations to all our players representing the club with determination and sportsmanship on and off the court. 🎾

Old Eds Squash kept the rallies going throughout May, with our Masters and Ladies’ teams battling it out across Johannesburg.

Highlights from the month included a convincing 13–7 win for Old Eds A in the Masters League derby against Old Eds B, while our Ladies’ team finished the month in style with a dominant 13–0 victory over Western Rackets 3. πŸ’ͺπŸ†

Win, lose or draw, it’s great to see our players representing Old Eds with passion, sportsmanship and plenty of competitive spirit on court.

King of the Cold πŸ₯ΆπŸŠβ€β™‚️

Our upcoming King & Queen of the Cold Long Distance Cold Water Swim takes place on 7 June at the Old Eds Outside Pool β€” and it’s set to be an unforgettable challenge for swimmers brave enough to take it on.

Wetsuits are welcome, and medals will be awarded to all 3km and 5km finishers.

Over the past two weekends, Old Eds runners have been putting in the miles, backing local events and showing up strong across races and training runs alike. πŸ‘Ÿ

At the Cradle of Humankind Road Race:

* Retsepile Khotle placed 2nd overall and 1st veteran with a time of 1:14 πŸ”₯
* Selinah Madiela finished as 2nd female in 1:27 πŸ™Œ

Preparation for Comrades is well underway, with members supporting a number of long runs across Joburg:

* A strong turnout at the Midrand Striders Long Run
* The ever-popular Pirates Big Daddy training run
* A challenging Pirates Reverse Run featuring a tough, hilly route over the mountain

At the Modderfontein Half Marathon:

* Noel Mbotwa placed 23rd overall and 7th veteran πŸ‘

Members also came together at the club for the Wings for Life World Race, taking part in the global event from a 1pm start.

Closer to home, club runs continue to grow:

* An Old Eds Club Run at the Cradle covering a solid 30km loop
* And a Rosebank to Monte Casino club run, with members tackling the 32km route there and back πŸ’ͺ

From podium finishes to long training miles, it’s been another strong few weekends on the road.
