Our RMB National Squad departed this evening, heading to Amsterdam for the World Rowing Championships!

The team will be taking to the water at the Bosbaan course, with racing kicking off on 24 August and running through to 30 August. Months of early mornings and relentless hard work come down to this, and the squad is ready to fly the South African flag high.

We want to wish all our crews and coaches the absolute best of luck for an incredible week of world-class racing.

What a day. What a race. What a turnout. ❤️

Sunday, 9 August, saw the Old Eds Road Race come alive, with 7,015 entries and 6,144 runners crossing the finish line across the 21.1km, 10km and 5km events.

And just look at how far we've come. Since 2023, the race has grown from 5,810 entries to over 7,000 in 2026 — a 21% increase in entries. Even more impressive, finishers have grown by 27%, from 4,839 to 6,144.

This isn't just a race anymore. It's become a proper fixture on the Johannesburg running calendar, and we couldn't be prouder.

But a race of this size doesn't happen without an incredible team behind it.

A huge thank you to our Old Eds members who gave up their Sunday morning to help make the day happen. From registration and route support to water points, logistics and everything in between — your time, energy and enthusiasm made all the difference.

A massive thank you too to the other running clubs who joined us at the water points, helping keep runners hydrated, motivated and smiling along the route. Your support and club spirit were fantastic.

And to our marshals, volunteers, officials, medical teams, sponsors, suppliers, photographers, organisers, supporters and everyone who worked behind the scenes — thank you. There are so many moving parts behind an event of this size, and every contribution mattered.

And of course, thank you to every runner who joined us. You brought the energy, the determination and the atmosphere that made the day what it was.

From the first runners heading out to the final finishers coming home, Old Eds Road Race 2026 was one for the books.
