Posting a few images from recent trails, hopefully just to remind my millions of followers just how wonderful it is to cycle our far-flung trails in the Karoo! After being blotted out this past autumn, we kick-off our trailing programme in mid-September, running until early-December. In addition to our normal 5-day trails, we have a delightful new network of cycling routes on and around Mt Melsetter, which means passing guests can happily spend a few days exploring the local rides. We're adding lots of interesting "apre-cycling" options, including, guided walks with local experts, battlefield stories, photography lessons, guided river-rafting on the Fish River, starlit dancing, springhare watching ... and lots more! Pics from previous trails show the stunning variety and diversity of our cycling experiences ... seldom a dull moment! Get in touch - organize your own group or join a group ... bearing in mind that we're running trails most weeks from mid-September through October and November and early December. Check our web site: gkcycle.co.za ... and get in touch!

We're getting ready for our spring trails in the socially distant Karoo. All our cyclists who missed out this autumn under Covid-19 restrictions can't wait to hit the gravel roads again! In celebration of this eventuality, we asked little-known local artist, Pablo Southey, to capture on canvas the exhilaration of cycling in Karoo vastness.

Yup, that time of year again! The European swallows will soon be winging their long journey south, the ewes are about to drop their spring lambs, the springbok, the wildebeest, the oryx, the blesbok … even the springhares, are getting ready for new arrivals in the season of sprouting buds.
GKC is hosing down and lubricating its mountain bikes and Ebikes, checking tyre sealant levels and reconnoitering some new routes. We hope you’re at least thinking of some saddle time, firming that bum, maybe spinning up a storm at the gym, toning those leg muscles and checking latest fashions in cycling shirts and shorts! GKC's autumn trails get into full swing in the last two weeks of March, continuing until the end of May. The Karoo is very busy in the autumn months with guesthouses filling up. We run 5 different trails to various destinations in the Karoo, encompassing towns such as Graaff-Reinet, Nieu Bethesda, Cradock, Colesberg, Gariep and cycling on a network of gravel district roads and farm jeep tracks. Lotsa "apre-cycling" activities laid on at the various guesthouses.
