For one performance only 8 October 2022 at 11am at the Joburg Theatre and Joburg Ballet Schools first performance on the Nelson Mandela Stage. Please see booking details below. Joburg Ballet School Accelerated program is holding auditions for student intake 2022. For students who love ballet to grow our dance community.

Celebrating with Savannah Ireland, Monike Cristina and Claudia Monja Guedes - the three talented ladies gracing the billboard for our next season. Have you seen it on the motorway in the City of Joburg...?

The season in July, entitled EVOLVE, brings together four works in a mix that proved very popular in April: three new works created especially for Joburg Ballet and a glittering showpiece from the classical repertoire.

The new works include The Afterlife: Souls, a reflective, introspective piece by principal dancer Shannon Glover; The Game by Mario Gaglione inspired by chess, the game of kings; and Legae, an evocative dance piece about returning home after a long absence by Tumi Lekana.

The programme’s classical ballet is the Grand Pas from Paquita, classicism in the grand manner providing a showcase for ballerina, partner, soloists and corps de ballet. Choreographed in the 19th century by the great Marius Petipa, creator of The Sleeping Beauty and many other classics, Paquita is being produced for Joburg Ballet by company soloist Ivan Domiciano.

Change of plans for Joburg Ballet School and Satellite Schools Auditions for 2021.
Depending on the our country's Adjusted Alert Level 3 Lockdown Regulations we at Joburg Ballet have postponed our auditions to the following dates.

17 February 2021 in Alexandra at the San Kopano Resource Centre at 3pm.
18 February 2021 in Braamfontein at the University of Johannesburg at the Large Dance Studio at 3pm.
19 February 2021 in Soweto at Uncle Tom's Community Hall at 3pm.

Selected students maybe requested to attend an additional audition on 20 February 2021 at Joburg Ballet Studio.

Our numbers are limited due to Covid 19.

As we say Good Bye to 2020, we would like to say thank you to all our students and parents for supporting our school and the children through one of the most challenging years we have experienced.

Joburg Ballet Satellite Schools intake for 2020 has closed and no new students can be taken into the programme.



Auditions Dates for 2021 (Subject To Change):


20 January - JBS Auditions Alexandra: Alexsan Kopano Centre, Cnr. 12th Avenue & Selborne Street, Alexandra

21 January - JBS Auditions Braamfontein: Joburg Ballet Studio, 26 Hoofd Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg

22 January - JBS Auditions Soweto: Uncle Tom’s Hall, 8251 Maseko Street, Orlando West, Soweto


Please Note:


There is NO AUDITION FEE.

All auditions start at 15:00.

All students must audition at one of the venues listed above.

No student will be permitted to audition more than once.

The Audition Panel will be the same at all the venues and students will receive the audition results on the same day.

The Joburg Ballet School and the Audition Panel’s decision is final and no further correspondence shall be entered into.



Outstanding young dancers aged 8 – 12 identified during the annual Satellite School auditions may stand a chance to audition for Joburg Ballet School’s accelerated programme. Auditions for the accelerated program is by invitation only and will take place as follows:

23 January from 12:00 – 13:00 at Joburg Ballet Studio, 26 Hoofd Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg



Parents/Guardians of children accepted into the Satellite Schools please note:

Registration fee is R200 and the monthly fee R120.

Classes for new students take place during the week, with the earliest class for all new students starting at 14:45 – 15:30.

Students will receive Timetables in due course and older students may have to attend later classes from February.
