Core activation, height awareness, counter balance. From “I can’t” to “wow I did it!” A little wobble, a deep breath, a whole lot of courage… and suddenly, that obstacle doesn’t look so scary anymore!

Big smiles, proud little faces, and the unforgettable moment they realise they’re capable of so much more than they thought.

And of course… the classic request:
“Please make it lower, Coach Smish!”

We challenge those comfort zones, build strength and body awareness, develop balance and control, and turn “I can’t” into “WATCH ME!”

One obstacle. One brave attempt. One massive confidence boost at a time.

Practice makes progress. And progress looks pretty awesome from the saddle!

Riding on wet trails

Wet trails bring a whole new level of fun, challenge and skill to MTB. The grip changes, braking becomes more technical, roots turn slippery, and every corner demands a little more respect.

A few tips for keeping the rubber side down:

Relax your grip. Stay loose through your arms and let the bike move beneath you.

Look ahead. Choose your line early, especially through wet roots and rocks.

Brake smoothly. Brake before corners where possible, avoiding sudden grabs on slippery surfaces.

Stay balanced. Keep your weight centred and your body relaxed. Avoid making sudden movements.

Be gentle on the pedals. Smooth, consistent power helps prevent your rear wheel from spinning out.

Respect the trail. Avoid skidding, and stay off trails that are too muddy or closed to protect the surface.

Remember: Wet trails aren’t about riding harder. They’re about riding smarter, smoother and with a little more finesse.

Ralph has ridden like an absolute champ! 💪 Motivated, determined and taking on those trails with grit, courage and a whole lot of heart.

Every pedal stroke, every challenge and every push forward is another step in the right direction. Big steps taken, big lessons learnt, and a whole new perspective on what racing at Nationals is all about.

You’re lining up against the best in South Africa, Ralph, and you absolutely belong here! Keep learning, keep pushing and keep believing in what you can achieve.

Keep that fire burning! The trails are tough, the racing is fierce, but so are you!

Nationals is a whole different level of intensity, power and grit.
Day 1 threw a curveball when Hugo took a solid knock to the knee. But did that stop him? Absolutely not.

He got back up, dug deep and pushed as hard as he could to make it through that finish line. That alone is something to be proud of. And then came Day 2… Hugo stood proudly on that start line, ready to do it all over again. Ready to hurt, push, dig deep and ride with every ounce of heart and soul he had.

That’s what Nationals is about.
Not just the result, The fight. The grit. The determination. The never-give-up attitude.

Well done, Hugo. You earned every pedal stroke. Thank you for your determination, perseverance and passion.

Two days. South Africa’s top primary school riders. One seriously amazing Stellenbosch course.

And Ethan? He didn’t come to sightsee. He punished those trails, powering the bike around, digging deep on the climbs and sending it through the tech with the kind of grit that makes a coach grin from ear to ear. Two days of full-gas racing, big efforts and absolutely no shortage of effort. Ethan came to race… and those trails definitely knew he’d been there. Two days of racing, two days of digging deep, getting stuck in and giving those Stellenbosch trails absolute beans. Well done for a great weekend on the trails. You raced hard, rode with grit and loved it. Super Proud of you and the hard work you put in. What a weekend!
