Jose Mourinho believes Sam Allardyce is the “right person” for the job of England manager, and has wished him good luck in ending the Three Lions’ long trophy drought.
The Football Association is set to confirm Sunderland boss Allardyce as Roy Hodgson’s successor on Thursday, and, speaking in Shanghai ahead of his club’s involvement in the International Champions Cup, the Manchester United manager backed Allardyce to succeed in the role which to many has become a poisoned chalice.
“You are a complicated country for the person that gets the job! I think he’s the right person for that. I think he’s a good choice but I think he needs support,” Mourinho said.
“I think you can do better in respect of that, because my experience in your country shows me that in the football world you could do a bit better.
Former Real Madrid defender Cicinho has claimed several senior players such as Iker Casillas and Raul "manipulated" the dressing room during his time at the club.
Cicinho spent two seasons at Madrid and made 32 appearances across all competitions, helping the side become La Liga champions in 2006-07.
However, the 36-year-old, who most recently played for Turkish club Sivasspor, claims there were a number of stars who controlled the dressing room, the manager and the Spanish press.
"When Roberto Carlos left, I was the main [right-back], Sergio Ramos was central and sometimes on the right, and then Michel Salgado was the third-choice full-back," Cicinho told ESPN Brasil.
'Then [Iker] Casillas gave the second captaincy to Salgado so he could play. That's where these little groups started. Julio Baptista told me about it.
Football is full of superstitions, and we may have found Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema's ritual before he runs on to the field of play.
The striker is back at pre-season training with Los Blancos, and he was spotted doing something very strange with the kit man.
In the video below, the French international can be seen being given a pair of new adidas boots by the kit man, and asks him to touch each boot before he goes out to train.
The ritual is a bit of a strange one, but if it gets him scoring goals like he did last season, then we are all for the superstition!
Mario Gotze re-joins Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich
German international Mario Gotze has completed his return to former club Borussia Dortmund from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Gotze, who scored the winner in Germany’s 2014 World Cup triumph, left BVB in 2013 for the Bavarian giants, and after netting 36 goals in 114 appearances for Munich, heads back to Dortmund, signing a four-year deal with the club, subject to a medical.
"I am personally very pleased that Mario has decided to return to Borussia Dortmund,” club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said. “I have since his departure in 2013, always hoped that he will one day return to us.”
Gotze said he’s delighted to be back, and vows to prove himself once again on the pitch and win back the favour of the fans he disappointed three years ago.
"When I switched from BVB to Bayern in 2013, that was a conscious decision behind I will not hide myself today,” he said. “Three years later, I look with different eyes at my former decision. I can well understand that many fans could not understand my decision. I would not even take it so today!
“When I return to my home, I want to try all people - especially those who do not receive me with open arms - to convince by performance. My aim is to again play my best football. For all of us, the club and the BVB fans."
Robson Muchichwa: George Lebese must be consistent for Kaizer Chiefs
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Robson Muchichwa believes George Lebese needs to deliver consistently given his ability to make Amakhosi tick.
Lebese started last season strongly, racking up eight goals in speedy fashion before injury and a loss of form derailed his progress.
"I think for me he needs to learn to deliver and be consistent. Not to say today you playing well, tomorrow you are off," Muchichwa says of the 27-year-old.
"For me he needs to learn to be consistent and if he becomes consistent in terms of performing, improving his performance day in and day out, I think he can do well.
"When he's on form you could clearly see things do happen and Chiefs score goals. But I don't know what happens sometimes.
"We need to know that on the left wing we have George Lebese. If Kaizer Chiefs is playing now you don't know who's going to play on the left, is George there or not there? So he need to be consistent," concludes the Zimbabwean.

£185.8m! By the Numbers: Paul Pogba completes world-record Manchester United transfer - Here's a closer look at how the deal adds up
Done deal?
So after a summer of back and forth it appears that Paul Pogba’s long awaited return to Manchester United is all but done.
The Juventus man left Old Trafford for a nominal fee after his contract with the Premier League side expired and a move to Turin swiftly followed.
The rangy midfielder has since rose to prominence to becomes arguably the hottest young player in world football and as such any transfer was likely to be for a very large sum indeed, and so it has proven.
Over the course of four seasons at Juventus the all-round performer has won four successive Serie A titles and steadily improved year on year.
In 2014/15 Pogba played a key role in pushing Juventus to a Champions League final berth and last season he finished as the leading assist maker in the Italian top tier before performing well at this summer’s Euro 2016 finals.
Jack of all trades
In many ways Pogba is the perfect all round midfielder.
The burly midfielder has the strength and stamina to act as a fulcrum in the middle of the park and can get stuck in, when he wants to.
However it’s when pushing forward that Pogba really earns his corn. The Juventus man has become adept at pushing defence into attack, his strong runs into opposition territory scare the lives out of defences who are equally wary of an intelligent lay-off as they are of a raking 30 yard shot on goal.
Calculated risk
Transfer windows are of course littered with big money flops and each and every side has suffered in that respect but when it comes to spending big, a move for Pogba is a relatively safe bet.
The French international is on an upward arc and is worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and co.
Jose Mourinho has been charged with the task of getting Manchester United back on track after three lean seasons following the end of Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure and has been handed a large transfer fund warchest.
The club have no Champions League to offer prospective signings and as such may need to sweeten the pot for any potential capture.
Mourinho has already lured Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club and one imagines the arrival of Pogba will lead to a number of departures to help balance the books and the club can expect to get big sums for Juan Mata, Marouane Fellaini and Memphis Depay, players the ‘Special One’ can afford to lose.
The Numbers
If Manchester United are to lure Pogba back, and it’s looking increasingly likely, then it’s a move that will set the Premier League side back a small fortune.
Chief executive Ed Woodward has haggled a price that will see the club pay Juventus £92m for Pogba, that figure is in excess of the current transfer world record, that being Gareth Bale’s £86m move from Tottenham to Real Madrid in 2013.
On top of this fee Manchester United will pay Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, a cool £18.4m, this fee was one that Juventus were liable to fulfill but have seemingly convinced the paying club to cover the cost.
That fee doesn’t include any add-ons, meaning that Manchester United will stand to make 100% of any potential sell-on, which represents good business given the player’s age and obvious potential.
Pogba has agreed a five year contract worth £290,000 a week, that figure includes the player’s image rights, and over the course of the entire contract this works out as a massive £75.4m.
So this means that the deal could cost Manchester United a grand total of £185.8m.
Whilst clearly this is a massive outlay it’s a calculated risk the club are willing to take and perhaps a wise one to undertake given the position Manchester United currently find themselves in.
Bleacher Report claims Atletico Madrid are ready to set their sights on Liverpool's Divock Origi if they fail to lure Diego Costa back to the club from Chelsea.
Juventus star Paul Pogba is reportedly close to leaving the Italian giants, and has now apparently chosen his next destination.
Real Madrid were reportedly interested in securing Pogba's services, but pulled out of the race after they were told they would need to break the world record transfer fee to lure him to Spain.
However, the price did not seem to deter Manchester United, who, according to The Guardian, made a £100 million (R1.8 billion) bid, £13 million (R243 million) of which was performance-related add-ons, for the midfielder, although this was rejected by the Bianconeri.
It is believed that Ed Woodward met with Pogba's representatives to discuss the deal, but Juventus have reportedly made it clear they want more money.
The source claimed that the Italian giants wanted £100 million (R1.8 billion) up front, and a further £8 million (R149 million) in bonuses.
Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that an agreement between Pogba and United has been reached.
It has been reported that the Frenchman has made it clear he wants to return to his former club, with the asking price said to have now been set at €125 million (R1.9 billion).
