Ever wanted to give motocross a try? Join us this Sunday, 7 June, at Thunder Valley in Pietermaritzburg for a Mini X Motocross Training Day!

Designed for young riders and newcomers to the sport, this fun and interactive training day will cover the basics of riding, help build confidence, and introduce participants to the excitement of motocross. Our friendly trainers will be on hand to guide riders every step of the way.

Supported by the FIM, this initiative aims to make motorcycle sport more accessible and encourage the next generation of riders to get involved.

🏍️ SOUTH AFRICA'S DIEGO DE PONTE STEPS UP FOR MOTOJUNIOR GP ROUND 2 AT ESTORIL

South African rider Diego de Ponte will continue his European racing campaign after being announced as part of the IUM Motorsports line up for Round 2 of the MotoJunior GP Championship at the Circuito do Estoril in Portugal on 13 and 14 June 2026.

Following a strong start to his 2026 ESBK season, where he has secured four podium finishes from four races, de Ponte will step up as a wildcard entry with the team's Stock European Championship programme.

His participation marks another opportunity for South African motorsport fans to follow a local rider competing on the international stage as he continues to build valuable experience in European competition.

All eyes will be on Estoril as de Ponte looks to continue his impressive form and add another chapter to a promising 2026 season.

🏁 MSA TO HOST MXGP MARSHAL TRAINING AT LEGENDS MX TRACK

As preparations continue for the MXGP of South Africa, Motorsport South Africa, with the support of the FIM, will host a Motocross Marshal Training Programme on 13 June 2026 at Legends MX Track.

The one day programme will provide both new and experienced marshals with classroom and practical training covering trackside safety, incident response, communication procedures and more.

🌍🏍️ FROM SENEGAL TO THE WORLD RALLY-RAID STAGE

Senegal's Alexis Varagne recently completed the demanding DesafΓ­o Ruta 40 in Argentina, the second round of the FIM World Rally-Raid Championship.

Competing against some of the world's best rally-raid riders, Alexis tackled over 500 km on the final stage alone, navigating high-altitude mountain passes, vast dune fields and challenging canyon terrain. Despite encountering mechanical issues during the rally, he remained focused and completed the event, proudly carrying the colours of Senegal on the international stage. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡³

Reflecting on the rally, Alexis highlighted the valuable experience gained and is already looking ahead to the next round of the championship, the Rally of Morocco. πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦

Congratulations to Alexis on his determination and commitment. FIM Africa wishes him every success for the remainder of the season.

The FIM Motocross World Championship is officially heading back to Johannesburg on 5 July 2026 for a spectacular South African Grand Prix, hosted at the Terra Topia Motocross Track.

Prepare for some intense racing as a stacked lineup of talent, featuring world champions like Romain Febvre, Jeffrey Herlings, and Tim Gajser, along with rising stars, battle it out on South African soil. The competition in both the MXGP and MX2 classes is set to be fiercer than ever this season.

With 19 rounds confirmed for the 2026 championship, the stop in Johannesburg will be a crucial one. Make sure you are there to witness the best riders in the world compete for the title.
