The wait is nearly over for the 2026 Breathe World Ocean Day Swim sponsored by FNB. Next Saturday (June 6) is your chance to enjoy South Africa's biggest open-water ocean swim, and at the same time do your bit to help protect the ocean.

This is an annual fundraiser for Breathe Conservation, with all the proceeds going towards their environmental education program and fight against plastic pollution in the ocean.

Online pre-entries are still open at at MyActive.co.za at https://breatheworldoceandayswim2026.myactive.co.za/ but will close at midday on Thursday, June 4. After that, late entries will only be taken on race morning at the Durban Beach Club.

Around the world, 8 June is World Ocean Day, a day to raise awareness to the importance of the world’s life-giving oceans. Join Breathe Conservation in their annual fundraiser to celebrate World Ocean Day on 6 June 2026 by taking part in an invigorating swim. There are four different distances to choose from – 800m, 1.6km, 3.2km, and 5km – so challenge yourself and your friends and family, and get swimming! Proceeds go towards Breathe Conservation’s environmental education programme.

Starting and finishing at the Boskoppie Lion and Tiger Reserve near Kroonstad, the Gravel Rush is an ultra-endurance gravel race not to be missed. There are two routes—Lion (280 km) and Tiger (160 km)—as well as Lite options (86km and 30km). For those who thrive on long days in the saddle and relentless gravel grinding, the Lion route is for you. The Tiger route offers the same scenery but with a slightly faster finish.

After a successful event last year, the newly built Riverstone Mall, situated in Meyerton, is back with another exciting running event. Runners and walkers can choose between a 5 km and an 8 km distance. Each participant will receive an awesome goodie bag, a custom finisher’s medal, and refreshments at the end of the race.
