There is no “I” in TEAM.

Sikho “Sequence” Nqothole was a great example of listening, trusting, and having complete faith in his TEAM.

A big thank you to Boxing 5 Promotions for allowing NO DOUBT Management to navigate and plan effectively, which ultimately led to Nqothole’s victory last weekend.

To all the role players, including the administration TEAM, the media, and of course SA Boxing Talk, thank you for all the hard work. We are truly grateful.

Well done "Sequence"!
Next stop: to win the IBF Super-Flyweight Championship of the World!

With their fists flying, it was a quiet conversation with two red hot South African prospects in Amzolele "Globe" Dyeyi and Emmanuel "The Beast" Kalengui for this afternoon’s sparring at the Hot Box Gym.

**KID CHOCOLATE, FORMER GOOD FIGHTER AND EXCELLENT TRAINER**

With the recent success and upset win by South Africa’s Sikho “Sequence” Nqothole against the UK’s Charlie Edwards last Friday night at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, it’s time that the respect and credit given to his trainer, Phumzile Matyhila, is recognized.

Matyhila was one of the best amateurs to come out of SANABO, competing at the 2000 Sydney Australian Olympics and representing South Africa. As a professional, Matyhila went on to become a WBC International flyweight and South African bantamweight champion. He finished his professional career with a very respectable record of 18 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws.

Naturally, when it was time for Matyhila to retire, he couldn’t turn his back on a sport that he dearly loved. Instead, he moved into training commercial clients, but—given his career and knowledge—fighters approached him to train them. Teaming up with Boxing 5 Promotions when the promotion relaunched their company in 2022, Matyhila had several fighters competing on their cards.

In 2024, after Nqothole lost a razor-thin, debatable decision in Mexico, he signed with NO DOUBT Management and put his faith in Matyhila. The two share a strong bond, and it showed last Friday night when Matyhila guided Nqothole perfectly, winning a clear and unanimous decision over the favorite Edwards.

A big mention must also go to Boxing Technician and cutman Bernie Pailman for assisting them in the corner, along with rising young trainer and manager Marco Costa.

This major win brings the spotlight to South African boxing and solidifies Matyhila as one of the best trainers in the country.

The 49-year-old Phumzile “Kid Chocolate” Matyhila deserves to take a bow, and we all need to stand up and clap.
