What does personal safety look like when you’re a dentist, a mother, or caring for two young children?

We spent some time with Daniella, a dentist and mom, and Yolandi, a mother of two young children, for an honest conversation about why they carry—and the responsibility that comes with it.

Against the backdrop of violence against women in South Africa, their experiences open up a conversation about preparation, training and personal safety. Carrying a fi***rm is a personal decision, and no single tool can end gender-based violence.

What is one everyday safety habit you would share with another woman? Tell us in the comments.

We pride ourselves on industry-leading service and setting a high benchmark for e-commerce in South Africa.

But we also have to be realistic.

We’re not Checkers Sixty60, and we don't pretend to be.

A customer placed an order on the evening of 30 Sep expecting it to be overnighted from Johannesburg to Cape Town the following morning.

Normally, we’d have done our best to make that happen.

Unfortunately, one item had a stock discrepancy and wasn’t actually available. With 2,000+ SKUs, multiple sales channels and stock constantly moving, these things can occasionally happen.

On top of that, we were dealing with a 10+ hour power outage, with our backup systems running down and operations being severely disrupted.

We informed the customer as soon as we knew the order couldn’t be fulfilled immediately.

What followed was a series of increasingly disrespectful emails. See the image for the final message.

We accept that mistakes happen. We accept that customers get frustrated. We will always do our best to fix things when they do.

What we won’t accept is disrespect towards our team.

As a result, effective 1 Oct 2026, overnight delivery from JHB to destinations outside Gauteng will no longer be offered even by special request.

We’d rather set realistic expectations than promise a service that creates unnecessary pressure on our team and customers.

If you expect to be treated with dignity and respect, please extend the same courtesy to the people serving you.

And finally, thank you to everyone who has supported us, challenged us and helped us continuously improve. We genuinely appreciate every customer who has been part of the journey. ❤️
