🎓 TERTIARY DANCE STUDIES- JOZIINSTITUTE

WHAT COMES AFTER MATRIC?

For many young dancers, finishing school leaves one important question:

“What’s next for my dance career?”

South Africa has long needed more opportunities for dancers who want to continue their dance studies after matric— to train at a tertiary level, gain a qualification and prepare themselves for a professional career in the dance industry.

JOZI INSTITUTE is here to answer that question.

Launching in 2027, Jozi Institute is a new tertiary dance programme by JoziDance, created specifically for dancers who want to take their training beyond school and turn their passion into a profession.

This is more than simply continuing dance classes. It is about developing the complete dance professional through:

🩰 Dance & Technique
🎭 Choreography & Performance
👩‍🏫 Dance Teaching
🎬 Stage Production
📱 Marketing & Media

Students will have the opportunity to study dance at a tertiary level, gain practical industry experience, develop a professional portfolio and work towards a qualification that can prepare them for a career in the performing arts.

Whether your dream is to become a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher, creative or industry leader, Jozi Institute provides the next step in your journey.

🔵 JOZIDANCE INDUSTRY WORKSHOP | 18 OCTOBER 2026

DON’T JUST TRAIN FOR A COMPETITION. TRAIN FOR A CAREER.

JoziDance is opening our Industry Workshop to the entire dance community — from aspiring young dancers to professional dancers and teachers.

Come train alongside dancers from across South Africa and learn from some of the best professional industry icons in the country.

At JoziDance, we believe dancers need more than competition experience to build a sustainable career.

Instead of spending hundreds of thousands on endless competition entries, we believe that investment should also go into:

✨ Exceptional professional-level training
✨ Exposure to multiple dance styles
✨ Learning directly from industry professionals
✨ Professional performance opportunities
✨ Developing versatility and adaptability
✨ Understanding what the professional industry actually requires
✨ Preparing dancers for auditions, companies and careers beyond school

There is a huge difference between training a dancer to win a competition solo and training a dancer who can walk into a professional company audition when they graduate.

A competition solo can teach valuable skills — but it is not the same as professional dance training.

Our philosophy is simple:

TRAIN. PERFORM. LEARN. EXPERIENCE. GROW.

This is why JoziDance dancers are exposed to training, performance, choreography, workshops, professional opportunities AND competition. We believe this creates dancers who are genuinely versatile, well-rounded and industry-ready.

And now we’re inviting YOU to experience it.

🩰 OPEN TO:

Students • Pre-Professionals • Professional Dancers • Teachers

✨ HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY✨

Today, we celebrate the women who move us — the women who lead, create, inspire, nurture, challenge and dream.

Through dance, women tell stories without words. They embody strength and softness, vulnerability and power, discipline and freedom. Every movement carries a piece of who they are.

To every woman who has ever stepped onto a stage, into a studio, or simply dared to take up space — we see you, we celebrate you, and we honour you.🤍

May you always know your strength.
May you always trust your voice.
May you always have the courage to take centre stage.

Here’s to the women who move the world.🩰✨

At Jozi Youth Dance Company, we don’t just train dancers for competitions — we train high-performance artists for the professional industry. ✨
Many dancers dream of joining professional companies one day, and one of the first major stepping stones is auditioning for prestigious international intensives. These opportunities are rare, highly competitive, and being accepted is an achievement on its own.
We are incredibly proud to announce that our vocational dancer, Jadeline Gardner-Sandiford, has been accepted into ALL of the following international company intensives for 2026:
• Batsheva Dance Company Summer Course 🇮🇱
• Sydney Dance Company Winter Intensive 🇦🇺
• Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company Summer Intensive 🇮🇱
• Tulsa Ballet Summer Intensive 🇺🇸
• The Dance Lab Summer Lab 🇮🇹
This is an extraordinary achievement for a South African dancer and a huge milestone for both Jade and her trainer and mentor, Jayd Swart, Director of JYDC.
At JYDC, we focus on developing well-rounded professionals by building dancers’ profiles, CVs, performance experience, versatility, artistry, and industry readiness. As our dancers approach graduation, we guide them through auditions and connect them with leading international institutes and companies. Ultimately, success comes down to talent, dedication, discipline, and work ethic — and Jade has shown all of that and more.
What makes this even more exciting is that Jade still has another full year before graduating in 2027, yet she is already creating incredible international opportunities for her future.
With many of our graduates now working professionally in South Africa and abroad, and an exciting group preparing for 2027, we are proud to continue building pathways into the professional dance industry. We are also excited to soon launch our tertiary certificate in dance — designed to help dancers refine their skills, strengthen their training, and gain the stepping stones needed to access opportunities like these.
Congratulations, Jadeline! ✨
Congratulations to JYDC! 🤍
Here’s to many more success stories to come.
