🏓 The Best Part of Table Tennis Might Have Nothing to Do With Table Tennis.

At first, you come for the game.

To learn a forehand.

Improve your serve.

Win a few matches.

Get some exercise.

But somewhere along the way...

Something else happens.

You start recognising the same faces.

Someone asks if you want a hit.

People remember your name.

You find the players you always practise with.

You laugh about the ridiculous net ball that somehow won the point.

You stay around after you've finished playing just to talk.

And one day you realise...

You belong here ❤️

That's something special about the table tennis community.

It doesn't really matter whether you're 8 or 80.

Whether you've played for 30 years or picked up a bat last month.

Whether you're chasing trophies or simply chasing the ball.

We share something.

🏓 We understand the frustration of missing an easy ball.

🏓 We know the satisfaction of finally mastering a shot.

🏓 We understand why someone would happily spend hours hitting a tiny white ball across a table.

And perhaps that's why people stay in this sport for decades.

It's not only the table tennis.

It's the people.

In a world where we're supposedly more "connected" than ever, genuine belonging can be surprisingly difficult to find.

Table tennis gives us somewhere to go.

People to play.

People to laugh with.

People who notice when we haven't been around for a while.

That's community.

🇿🇦 SA National Table Tennis Championships 2026 – Polokwane 🏓

We know this update is a little late... but as they say, better late than never! 😊
Our Raiders players proudly represented our club and Johannesburg Table Tennis at the SA National Table Tennis Championships in Polokwane, and we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them.
From all accounts, the weather was fantastic, the venue was excellent, and the tournament was exceptionally well organised from start to finish. Most importantly, our players had a wonderful experience both on and off the table.
There were wins to celebrate, losses to learn from, and plenty of valuable lessons gained along the way. That's what sport is all about—growing, improving, and never giving up. And, of course, one of the highlights each year is catching up with friends from around the country who they only get to see at SA Championships.
Every one of our players gave their absolute best, played with heart, and represented the Raiders badge with pride. We are incredibly proud that the Raiders flag flew high in Polokwane! 💙❤️🏓
A very special word of appreciation also goes to two of our Raiders members who played a different, but equally important, role at the Championships.
Shaamiel Edwards dedicated his time as an umpire throughout the tournament, from 28 June to 8 July. Thank you for your commitment, professionalism, and for helping keep the matches running smoothly while ensuring every game was officiated fairly.
We also congratulate Moegammad Isaacs, who served as the Tournament Referee. This is a position of great responsibility, and we are incredibly proud to have a Raiders member entrusted with such an important role. Your leadership, dedication, and contribution to the success of the Championships did not go unnoticed.
While they weren't competing on the tables, they certainly played a different game—one that was just as important to the success of the tournament. Raiders is honoured to have members serving the sport at such a high level.
Congratulations to all our players on your achievements. Keep working hard, keep believing in yourselves, and keep chasing your goals. We are already looking forward to seeing what next year's championships will bring!
