Dito isto, para um atleta acessar tal riqueza e ser assistido em fazer carreira vital e decisões financeiras, o aspecto "representação" do desporto vem na forma de um agente desportivo. Why Representation?

Gone are the good old days that sport was considered “semi-professional”. An era where sports where more about having fun than making money. Fast forward to the 21st Century and the world of sports have become a multi- billion dollar industry. Names like Lionel Messi, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Kobe Bryant etc, are recognized by fans world- wide. From the center of Pyongyang to the outskirts of Timbuktu.

From TV deals to endorsements and highly inflated sports contracts, sports have become a very lucrative industry. Having said that, in order for an athlete to access such wealth and be assisted in making vital career and financial decisions, the “representation” aspect of sport comes in the picture in the form of a sports agent. Preferably one that is knowledgeable of the ever changing sports world and its surrounding factors.

An agent’s role is to negotiate on its client’s behalf and ensure that financially and professionally, their client is well taken care of during the duration of that contract by negotiating favorable terms that will benefit the client.
