Rotary e-Club is Proud to Support the Sobukwe Cycling Club and all Partners involved in the Youth Cycling Event in Roodepan

On 22 August 2026, the Rotary e-Club of the Karoo Region proudly supported Killa Kau’s Show & Shine Stance Bikes event in Roodepan, Kimberley.

The event brought together young cyclists, families, local businesses, cycling organisations and community partners for a day centred on bicycles, creativity, safety and youth participation.

Partners and supporters included Kimstyle, Robert Sobukwe Cycling Club, Les Truly Cycling Movement and Workshop, Team Passion and the Rotary e-Club of the Karoo Region.

More than simply a bicycle show, the event created an opportunity for young people to demonstrate pride in their bikes, develop confidence and discipline, and enjoy positive recognition from the wider community. Certificates and prizes were awarded, while the presence of helmets, reflective clothing and police support helped reinforce the importance of safe and responsible cycling.

A particular highlight was the involvement of positive local role models such as Gadaffi, well known for his remarkable Kimberley-to-Cape Town-and-back cycling journey. His presence provided inspiration for many of the young riders attending the event.

The strong involvement of adults, businesses and community organisations also sent an important message to the young participants: that their community believes in them and is willing to invest in their interests and development.

The DFA attended the event, helping to give positive visibility to the young people taking part and to the organisations working together to support them.

For the Rotary e-Club of the Karoo Region, the event demonstrated the value of supporting locally led initiatives that already have strong community participation. Through partnerships such as these, Rotary can help promote youth development, safer cycling, confidence, community pride and stronger relationships across Kimberley.

The bicycles may have brought everyone together, but the real outcome was much bigger: unity, safety, pride and positive opportunities for young people.
