🏏 Knysna Cavaliers Cricket Club KICK OFF THEIR SWD T20 CAMPAIGN IN STYLE! 🏏
What a weekend for the Knysna Cavaliers!
From a massive performance by our men's team to our ladies showing incredible fight in Mossel Bay, it was a weekend that made us proud to be Cavaliers!
MEN'S TEAM: A BATTING DISPLAY TO REMEMBER!
This past weekend, our men's team kicked off the SWD T20 campaign at the pristine Rheenendal Sports at Backward Point CC fields. It is an absolute blessing to play at such a beautiful venue, and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who helps make cricket possible there.
After winning the toss, Cavaliers elected to bat first, and JP Ellis and Hayden Sweet got us off to a flying start with a massive 115-run opening partnership!
JP contributed a quick-fire 40 off just 24 balls.
The runs continued to flow as Hayden Sweet and Maurice White put together another outstanding partnership of 98 runs.
But the star of the day was undoubtedly HAYDEN SWEET! 💥🔥
Hayden produced an unbelievable innings, smashing a massive 160 runs off just 58 balls, including 13 fours and 14 sixes! 🤯🏏
An incredible display of power hitting, skill and confidence ,an innings that was truly something special to witness!
The Cavaliers finished on a formidable 277 runs in their 20 overs.
THE BOWLERS FINISH THE JOB!
Our bowlers came out firing, putting Riverdale CC under pressure from the very beginning. The Cavaliers attack was relentless, and Riverdale were eventually bowled out for just 41 runs!
A fantastic team performance and the perfect way to start our T20 campaign! 💪
🏏 OUR LADIES ARE MAKING US PROUD!
While the men were in action at home, our ladies travelled to Mossel Bay to compete in three T20 matches and what a performance they delivered!
This is still a very young team, but these ladies are showing tremendous heart, determination and fighting spirit, competing well beyond what many would expect of a team at their stage of development. They are proving that age is no barrier when you have the right attitude, commitment and passion for the game!
Our ladies finished the day with two fantastic victories out of three matches:
✅ Knysna Cavaliers beat Pioneers by 4 wickets.
✅ Knysna Cavaliers beat Dysselsdorp by 6 wickets.
💙 Knysna Cavaliers fell short against George by just 6 wickets.
Winning two out of three matches is a wonderful achievement, and we could not be prouder of this group of ladies. Their hard work, courage and determination are a credit to themselves and to our club, they secured a spot in the Finals of the SWD T20 Comp.
(Detailed scorecards will be shared as soon as we receive them.)
👏 A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS AND SUPPORTERS!
A special word of appreciation goes to RE/MAX Coastal for sponsoring our SWD T20 compain and new T20 playing kit. Thank you for believing in our club and investing in our players. Your support means a great deal to the Cavaliers, and we are proud to take the field wearing our new kit!
We would also like to thank all our supporters, scorers and umpires who contributed to the weekend's matches
And, of course, a huge thank you to Rheenendal Sports at Backward Point CC(Mr Pryke and team) for the opportunity to play at such a wonderful venue.
At Knysna Cavaliers, we believe cricket is about more than just winning matches. It is about building a family, creating opportunities, developing our players and bringing our community together. Weekends like this remind us why we do what we do.
Congratulations to both our men's and ladies' teams!
