Back in the 1980s, Krugersdorp Road Runners started doing their 4 km & 8 km time trials at Monument Dam in Krugersdorp. ⏱️

📍 Monument Dam — a familiar landmark to generations of Krugersdorp residents.

Today, that same area is home to the well-known Key West Shopping Centre. 🛍️

It’s amazing to think how much the area has changed — but the spirit of KRR has continued for decades. 💚

From those early time trials at Monument Dam to the runs we enjoy today…

Some things change. The love of running doesn’t. 🏃‍♂️💚🏃‍♀️

💚🏃‍♂️ DID YOU KNOW? — KRR HISTORY 🏃‍♀️💚

It all started in the early 1980s…

Tiennie and Linda Coetzer split from the Athletic Club and began something that would become a lasting part of Krugersdorp’s running community — Krugersdorp Road Runners (KRR).

The vision was to create a club with a stronger focus on road running and Ultra Marathon athletes, rather than the traditional focus on track and field.

🏃‍♂️ And so, an independent Road Running Club was born in Krugersdorp.

Tiennie and Linda became the club’s very first committee members, serving as:

🏆 Chairman – Tiennie Coetzer
📋 Secretary – Linda Coetzer

From those early beginnings in the 1980s, KRR has continued to grow, creating generations of runners, friendships and memories.

What started with a vision became a legacy. 💚

And today, we proudly continue that legacy.

💚🏃‍♀️ MEET OUR LADIES CLUB CAPTAIN – LEANE COETZEE! 🏃‍♀️💚

We’re excited to introduce Leane Coetzee, one of our KRR Ladies Club Captains! 👑💚

Leane has been part of the KRR running family for one year, but her love for running goes back much further — she has been running since she was just 12 years old! 🏃‍♀️🔥

And then there’s Leane’s very special fun fact… 😂

🌙 Leane is night blind!
Which means when the sun goes down, things can get interesting — she has a habit of crashing into everything! 🤣

But that certainly doesn’t stop her from getting out there and doing what she loves.

We’re proud to have Leane taking on the role of Ladies Club Captain and look forward to having her lead, support and encourage our KRR ladies on the road.
