SMALL PLAYERS. BIG HOCKEY DREAMS.

Every great hockey player starts somewhere. One stick, one ball, a whole lot of enthusiasm and plenty of practice!

At Khosa Mini & Junior Hockey, we're proud to partner with Grays Hockey, helping our young players access quality hockey equipment as they grow their skills and confidence on the turf.

Because big hockey dreams deserve the right support!

HOCKEY 101: Meet the ball.

One small habit can make a big difference to a young player’s game: don’t always stand still and wait for the pass to reach you. When possible, move towards the ball and think about your next action before it arrives.

👀 Scan to see what’s around you.
🏃 Move towards the pass.
🏑 Receive with control and guide your first touch into useful space.

Why?
Moving towards the ball can help you get there before an opponent, while a purposeful first touch can give you more time and a better position for your next pass or dribble.

The goal isn’t simply to stop the ball. It’s to receive it ready for what happens next.

Goalkeepers really are a special breed. Brave enough to stand between the posts while everyone else is actively hitting hockey balls in their direction.

You wash it.
You dry it.
You fold it.

For approximately five glorious minutes, everything is clean.

Then your hockey player walks through the door.

Socks have somehow changed colour. There’s turf in places turf has no business being. And that perfectly clean kit is heading straight back towards the washing machine.

And so begins another week in the glamorous world of junior hockey.

Hockey parents, what’s the one piece of kit that NEVER seems to stay clean?

Today we celebrate the cultures, traditions, languages and stories that make our country wonderfully diverse.

At Khosa Hockey, we see a little piece of that South African magic every time our players step onto the turf. Different schools, different backgrounds and different stories all coming together with one thing in common: a love for hockey.

Because whatever our heritage may be, when we step onto the field:

We play together.
We learn together.
We belong together.

From the entire Khosa Hockey family, Happy Heritage Day! 🇿🇦
