TO OUR KRUGERSDORP KINGS & QUEENS...
Today, we want you to know just how incredibly proud we are of each and every one of you.
On Saturday, 17 October 2026, eight of our very own Krugersdorp Chess Club players will take their seats at the Gauteng Closed Chess Championships, proudly representing the West Rand.
For some, this may be another step in their chess journey...
For others, it may be their first experience competing on a stage of this magnitude. But for every single one of you, it is an achievement worth celebrating.
Our club has only just celebrated its first birthday, and to see eight of our young players reach this milestone fills us with an enormous sense of pride and gratitude.
We truly thank God for this blessing and for how far each of you has come.
To our eight special players...
We have watched you learn, grow, make mistakes, overcome challenges and keep coming back to the chessboard. We have seen your excitement after a victory and your disappointment after a difficult game...and through it all, we have seen something far more important than results; your love for chess, your courage and your willingness to keep improving.
That is what makes us proud.
When you sit down at the board on Saturday, please remember this:
- You do not have to win every game to make us proud. You already have.
- Give your best, believe in yourselves, respect your opponents and enjoy the experience.
- Every move you make, every challenge you face and every lesson you learn will help shape the players and people you are becoming.
We pray that God will give you calm minds, confidence, wisdom and joy as you compete. May He guide you, strengthen you and remind you that your value is not only in results, but in who you are and how you carry yourselves.
To our wonderful parents and families, thank you.
Behind every young chess player is someone who makes the time, drives the kilometres, offers encouragement after a loss and celebrates even the smallest victories. Your love and support are part of this achievement too.
As a club, we may still be young, but moments like these remind us why we started Krugersdorp Chess Club in the first place; to create a place where players feel welcome, friendships are formed, confidence is built and young people are given the opportunity to discover just how much they are capable of achieving.
To our Kings and Queens, wherever your chess journey takes you, always remember that you have a chess family cheering you on, believing in you and praying for you.
Go and enjoy your moment. Play your hearts out, make beautiful memories and know that, with Godβs grace, we are behind you every step of the way.
We could not be prouder of you.
Eight players. One chess family. A very proud club.
With pride and warmest wishes,
Krugersdorp Chess Club
