SOUTH AFRICAN DRESSAGE CHAMPIONSHIPS🇿🇦
QUALIFIER🏆

Galisco was absolutely brilliant in our qualifier this morning, I am super proud! The qualifier doesn’t count towards our overall score, so the goal today was just to go as slowly and calmly as possible since our previous tests have been very exciting 😆 He really listened beautifully and wasn’t rushing in the slightest! I think he has realised he is not going showjumping now… I need a few more tests like this to gain my confidence before starting to ask for some more impulsion and energy🤞
We had fairly respectable scores of 62.8% and 63.5% which I’m really happy with.

KPC League Leg 3🌟🌟🌟

Really proud of our progress today. Galisco was warmed up by his owner and felt lovely and loose afterwards when I got on. I was much more confident in the warmup today and we were feeling really good!
He definitely perked up going into the main arena and he felt very excited to flick his toes and show off!! The difference today was that I really tried hard to ride through the excitement and just keep going. I’m still holding too much and need to work on letting him travel forward, but it’s definitely better than the first dressage! In the first test we only had one proper oops where I got a little bit too nervous of the energy and decided to rather walk a movement but other than that I did complete everything.
The second test I dropped my stick for, and it felt much more relaxed. Only oops was the accidental walk to canter instead of a trot transition which threw me off for my first circle. But again, I put that behind me and kept riding the rest of the test😆

Now just need to stop going straight to my hands when I get nervous. My accuracy can also improve now that we successfully didn’t jump the dressage boards🤣

Working hard on my freestyle last week!🧡
Galisco felt really good this day and I’m starting to feel quite excited about doing our first freestyle at SA Champs. (Although the nerves are currently still winning the battle🤣)
But I am not worried about doing well or getting high marks, just want to have a nice steady test to get my confidence up.

I rode in my EQUISK - equestrian gear that actually makes a difference FaceHalo Visor for the first time and I thoroughly enjoyed it!! I was slightly worried about my vision being obstructed but I was pleasantly surprised that I had full 360 vision with no problems. It doesn’t sit directly on your peak (I have a wide brim) so your front view is super clear too.
It stayed securely on my helmet through all wobbles and bounces during the ride. I didn’t feel like it was going to fly off at all which was great. Very lightweight and not bothersome!

Mega bonus points - these are designed for you to wear them without your helmet too. Really excited to use it on show days!

A bit of a slower, more chilled ride last weekend. Just happy to be out! Galisco and I were both feeling a bit lazy so we didn’t do too much. These rides at KPC every weekend are so beneficial towards me being more confident in a competition environment, I think it’s really going to pay off!

Canter not too bad. Trying to sit light instead of forcing myself to try sit deep and it definitely seems to feel and look a bit better!

Galisco working really nicely at KPC the other week🌟
It was nice practicing my trot leg yields and serpentines in a big arena so that I can take a bit more time and not rush! The left leg yields are feeling really good. The right still needs work but they are definitely improving.
