Happy 26th Anniversary to my beautiful wife, Lizelle!

26 years ago, we started this incredible journey together, and looking back today, I couldn’t have asked for a better person to share my life with.

Through all the ups and downs, the adventures, the laughter, and the challenges life has thrown our way, you’ve always been right there beside me.

You’re not only my wife, but my best friend, my soulmate, and the person who makes every day worth looking forward to. Together we’ve built a beautiful life, shared countless memories, and made dreams come true.

If I had the chance to do it all over again, I’d choose you every single time.

Here’s to 26 wonderful years, my love, and to many more adventures, sunsets, laughter, and memories together.

I love you more than words could ever say. Happy Anniversary, my beautiful Lizelle!

The Lee Family Chasing Africa’s Spiral Quest

What started as a family safari in pursuit of a few of Africa’s magnificent animals soon turned into something much bigger. A quest to conquer Africa’s famous spiral-horned antelope!

For father and son, Tai nd Koi Lee, the African bush had a few unforgettable adventures waiting.

Both hunters managed to outwit the legendary Grey Ghost, each taking a magnificent kudu bull. But the adventure was far from over.

Along the banks of the Matlabas River, deep in the shadows of the riverine thickets, Koi took a beautiful bushbuck. Meanwhile, Tai’s pursuit of the mighty eland led them into the thick African bush, where patience and determination were rewarded with an exceptional bull, one of the biggest taken at Cruiser Safaris this year! What an incredible safari it turned out to be! A father and son sharing the excitement, the challenges, and the memories that only the African hunting grounds can offer.

With kudu, bushbuck, and eland now part of their story, the Spiral Quest has well and truly begun!

For some, Africa is a once-in-a-lifetime journey. For others, it becomes a lifelong quest.

Three Generations. Three Buffalo Bulls.

Two years ago, three generations of the Miller family came to Africa together. During that safari, Grandpa John Snr. took a buffalo cow, but upon returning home, one dream remained, to return to Africa for a buffalo bull.

Two years later, John Snr., John, and Jacob returned to Cruiser Safaris with one special goal.

Three generations. Three buffalo bulls.

The buffalo certainly made them earn it!

The first few days were spent following tracks, stalking bulls and slipping through the thick African bush, only for shifting winds and wary buffalo to spoil their chances.

Then, on day three, things finally came together.

Three bulls were found resting in thick cover. After a careful stalk, John managed to get within 50 yards of the old bull they wanted. The shot rang out, and all three bulls thundered off through the bush. The younger bulls kept pushing the wounded old warrior forward, but after a determined follow-up, another shot finally brought him down.

One generation. One bull.

That very afternoon, it was Grandpa’s turn. At the remarkable age of 86 years, John Snr. was about to make Cruiser Safaris history!

A solitary bull was spotted, and after a successful stalk and a determined follow-up, Grandpa finally had the buffalo bull he had dreamed about for two years.

At 86 years young, he became the oldest client ever to hunt a buffalo at Cruiser Safaris!

Two generations. Two bulls.

Now it was Jacob’s turn.

Another day passed with nothing but close encounters and frustration. Then, on day five, they found a large herd of buffalo bulls. Amongst them was a particular bull they had their hearts set on.

The herd gave them a proper runaround, catching their scent and slipping away time and again. But persistence eventually paid off.

As the herd began crossing a road, Jacob was waiting. By a stroke of luck, the very bull they wanted stepped out first, looking in the opposite direction.

The r***e cracked, the bull bucked hard and disappeared into the bush, but his journey ended less than 50 yards later.

Three generations. Three buffalo bulls. One unforgettable African adventure.

Some hunts you never stop talking about, this was one of them.

Congratulations to Jerry and Roy, both 80 years old, on an incredible Cape Buffalo hunt with our team this season. Buffalo has a way of testing patience, nerve, and trust in your Professional Hunter all at once, and this hunt delivered on every count, proof that this kind of adventure has no age limit. Moments like this, with the whole team celebrating together in the bush, are exactly why hunters keep coming back to Cruiser Safaris.

Scott & Francis — Two Friends, Two Dream Animals

Scott and Francis are two good friends who have always shared a love for hunting. Coming to Africa, Scott had his heart set on a kudu, while Francis dreamed of taking a red hartebeest.

But Africa has a way of changing plans.

The moment Scott laid eyes on the Prince of Africa, the sable, he knew exactly what he wanted. Francis, on the other hand, never lost sight of the red hartebeest that had caught his attention.

After a few long, hard days in the bush, both hunters had completed their original packages. There was only one thing left to do, go looking for the two animals they had truly lost their hearts to.

Scott’s sable came together with a quick walk-and-stalk. A good approach, one opportunity, and a perfectly placed heart shot brought his Prince of Africa to ground.

Francis’ hartebeest made them work a little harder.

After a day or two of searching, an early morning finally brought their chance. Moving slowly through the bush, they spotted a lone red hartebeest bull. Several times the shooting sticks went up, only to come down again as the bull refused to offer the right opportunity.

Eventually, everything came together.

Francis made the shot count, and there in the African bush, two old friends had each taken an animal they hadn’t necessarily come to Africa dreaming about but would certainly leave Africa never forgetting.

Kendall Haralson — Zebra

A herd of zebra was spotted moving into a clearing, and Kendall and his PH quickly made a wide circle through the bush, hoping to intercept them.

But Africa has a way of changing the plan.

By the time they reached the other side, most of the herd had already melted into the thickets. It seemed a good chance had come and gone.

They moved closer, hoping the zebra might still be lingering along the edge, when suddenly a herd of impala erupted from the bush. Animals scattered in every direction, and surely now the opportunity was finished.

Instead, the commotion turned the hunt completely around.

The zebra came pouring back into the clearing.

Among the stripes, the stallion was quickly identified. Kendall settled onto the sticks and waited patiently for him to step clear.

For a few tense moments, there was nothing to do but wait.

Then the stallion gave him the opening.

Kendall made the opportunity count, dropping the old stallion in his tracks.

Sometimes in Africa, just when a hunt seems lost, the bush gives you one more chance.

Patrice travelled all the way from France to South Africa with one goal in mind: to hunt a Cape buffalo.

What followed was a proper buffalo hunt, the kind that tests a hunter’s legs, patience and determination.

From the first light of morning until late in the afternoon, Patrice and his PH walked and glassed, covering mile after mile in search of a truly good bull. Along the way, they passed up plenty of buffalo, knowing Patrice had travelled a long way for this hunt and that they were looking for the right animal.

By day six, the pressure was building.

Early that morning, they found a herd and managed to close the distance, but the right shot never came. After lunch, they changed their plans and headed out once again.

It wasn’t long before they found buffalo.

Patrice settled onto the shooting sticks and waited patiently. The herd moved through the bush, and for a while, everything seemed to hang in the balance. Then the bull took one step forward.

That was all Patrice needed.

The shot broke, and the buffalo scattered in every direction. As the dust began to settle, they spotted the bull lying motionless beneath a tree.

They approached carefully. When they reached him, Patrice’s eyes filled with tears. With a trembling hand, he reached down and ran it over the buffalo he had worked so hard to find.

Six long days. Countless miles. Many buffalo passed up in search of the right bull.

And finally, Patrice had taken the Cape buffalo he had travelled all the way to Africa for.

A hard-earned South African buffalo and a memory that will stay with him forever.
