Over 100 people were put through their paces at the outdoor aerobics exercise aimed at creating a healthy lifestyle.

The Midrand Association of Sports and Arts (Masa) held the exercise at the Noordwyk Public Park on February 26 in partnership with the City of Johannesburg Region A Health Department.

Bongani Sibisi, Masa treasurer said he was happy with the turnout despite being the last weekend of the month.

โ€œOur aim is to always expose Midrand residents to various fitness programmes so that we can all try to live a healthy lifestyle. As Masa, we want the community to be aware of our association and help them live healthily. We urge those who wish to be part of us to feel free to join.โ€
Sibisi said other planned activities included a fun walk and a fun run for both the young ones and the elderly.

Leya Morumudi, City of Joburg Region A health practitioner, said they will always support the organisation because living a healthy lifestyle is more than just keeping fit.

โ€œWe had one-on-one consultations with the participants to talk about health issues, social ills such as teenage pregnancy and drugs abuse among others for the youth. We also spoke to women about breast and cervical cancer before distributing information, education and communication materials.โ€

Masa invites all Midrand residents to a fun walk planned for March 5.
