K9Yoga Anywhere ๐ | Donโt Forget the Stretch, Superdog!
Big adventures deserve a gentle landing.
After those epic beach sprints, dune climbs, or โI swear my dog ran a marathonโ hikes, your dogโs body needs a moment to downshift, reset, and recover.
Twix (9 months, Golden Retriever, professional seabird chaser ๐ฆโจ) absolutely lives for high-intensity beach runs. But as we get home, we always pause for a few easy, feel-good dynamic stretches:
- to release built-up tension
- to support growing muscles and joints
- to help her nervous system switch from GO GO GO to ahhh, weโre safe
Think of it as teaching your dog that movement includes recovery ๐
Not long. Not complicated. Just intentional.
Because K9Yoga isnโt something you only do on a mat.
Itโs something you bring with you -
to the beach, the trail, the parkโฆ and into everyday life.

As we step into a new year, our intention should be simpleโand powerful.
To help our dogs rediscover the joy of movement.
To learn to trust their bodies again.
To shift from fear and fragility to confidence, curiosity, and play.
This isnโt about pushing harder or doing more.
Itโs about listening better.
Moving with care.
And remembering that joy is often the best place to begin.
Hereโs to a year of softer steps, deeper connection, and movement that feels good - for our dogs and for us.
Let it begin with joy. ๐พ๐

โจ In Loving Memory of Melissa Wilson โจ
โThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.โ
โ Psalm 34:18
Today, we mourn the heartbreaking loss of our dear colleague and friend, Melissa Wilson.
Melissa had a rare and gentle spirit โ a God-given gift that shone brightest whenever she was in the water with the dogs she so deeply loved. Her calm presence brought comfort to the anxious, courage to the fearful, and healing to every dog who trusted her hands. Watching her work was like witnessing grace in motion.
Her passion was more than a profession; it was her ministry. She poured love, patience, and compassion into every moment, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to ripple through every life she touched โ both two-legged and four-legged.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that her spirit now rests in the eternal arms of the Almighty. The same serenity she gave to others is now hers forever.
Today, heaven gains a beautiful soul โ and we can only imagine the joyful pool party taking place there, filled with doggies splashing, humans laughing, and Melissa right in the centre of it all, radiating the love she always gave so freely. ๐๐
Rest peacefully, Melissa.
Your light, your kindness, and your beautiful heart will never be forgotten. ๐ฆ๐ฆ

๐ Small Changes, Big Comfort: Why Raised Food Bowls Matter for Older Dogs ๐
As our dogs grow older, their bodies change โ joints stiffen, muscles weaken, and simple daily activities can start to feel like hard work. One easy way to support their comfort (and even their digestion!) is to raise their food and water bowls.
You don't need anything fancy. Just have a look at the photo ๐ โ these clever setups use a bucket and a step to bring the bowls closer to the dogsโ natural head height. Itโs practical, inexpensive, and makes a world of difference.
๐พ Why consider raising your dogโs bowls?
โจ Less neck and back strain: Bending down low can aggravate stiff joints and tired muscles, especially in older dogs or dogs with arthritis.
โจ Better posture while eating: A more upright position reduces pressure on the front legs and spine.
โจ Improved comfort at mealtimes: Many dogs simply eat more happily and relaxed when their bowls aren't on the floor.
โจ Helps dogs with mobility issues: Dogs struggling with balance, weakness or pain often find raised bowls much easier to manage.
๐ถ Be creative!
You donโt need special equipment. Use:
โข Buckets
โข Steps
โข Sturdy boxes
โข Low stools
โข Anything stable, safe, and just the right height for your dog
The goal is for your dog to eat with their neck in a neutral, comfortable position, not stretched up and not reaching down.
๐ Simple adjustments like this can greatly improve your dogโs daily comfort, especially for our lovely seniors who deserve all the support we can give.
๐ If youโd like personalised advice on the best height for your dog or other small changes to ease stiffness and pain, feel free to reach out. Your dogโs wellbeing matters, one meal at a time.

Tip of the day (thanks to Venita Prigge): Stitches on your medium sized dog's trunk or abdomen? Take a buff (you should have some lying around from COVID times), cut holes in for the front legs, and voila! Your very own DIY surgical suit.
