SERGEANT SOQRAT | WINNER AT TURFFONTEIN

A wonderful result for Sergeant Soqrat, who returned to the winner’s enclosure with a very good performance at Turffontein.

He has been knocking on the door with some encouraging recent efforts, and it was particularly satisfying to see him put everything together and get the result he deserved.

A superb ride from apprentice Jacey Botes, who judged the race beautifully and brought Sergeant Soqrat home in style. It was also a special milestone for Jacey, with the victory marking his 30th career winner. Congratulations to him on a fantastic achievement.

A sincere thank you and congratulations to Mr D G Bailie and Adv J J B Schutte for their continued support and belief in the horse.

This is win number six of the season for Spies Racing, and we are delighted with the momentum the stable has built in these opening weeks.

We continue to go from strength to strength, and there is plenty to look forward to.

NORTHERN EUROPEAN GETS IT DONE IN STYLE! 🏇🔥

A brilliant performance from Northern European at the Vaal, storming clear to win by almost five lengths under a masterful ride from Callan Murray.

She travelled beautifully behind the favourite before being produced at exactly the right moment, and once she found daylight, she powered away from the field.

This marks our fifth winner of the season, and incredibly, we have now had a winner every single week since the new season began.

A huge thank you to all of Northern European's owners for their continued support and belief in the stable. Thank you as well to everyone who continues to support Spies Racing, from our staff and riders to our loyal followers.

It has been a wonderful start to the season, and we are very excited about the direction the stable is heading.

A fantastic result at the Vaal as Mirum gets off the mark with a well-deserved victory over 1600m!

Congratulations to his owners R P Macnab, L C Engels, S Poriazis, Iresh Rampersad, A D Snyders and X Spies, and a great ride from Kabelo Matsunyane. Mirum is still learning his trade, so it was particularly pleasing to see him put it all together and show the ability we believed was there.

This brings up win number 4 for Spies Racing this season, and we are delighted to keep the momentum going.

A particularly exciting value purchase by Grade 1 sprinter Chimichuri Run, whose first crop has already produced promising winners including our own Spirit Of Gabz. Her tough, stakes-performed dam Bold Wonder won seven races from 1400m to 2000m, while her winning half-sister Irish Wonder Girl won five times over 1800m to 2000m. She brings together her sire’s explosive speed with a strong, durable female line capable of carrying that speed over further.

She went on to win the Grade 2 Gauteng Fillies Guineas and the Grade 1 SA Fillies Classic.

What a week for Spies Racing.

On Thursday at the Vaal, Trompe L'oeil made it career win number two, taking the Racing240 MR 74 Handicap over 1000m under Gavin Lerenafor Messrs R P Macnab, S Poriazis, D Dasrath & Mrs C Dasrath.

That same meeting saw Sergeant Soqrat and Campo Formio finish second, with Northern European running third.

Then today, Spirit of Gabz did it again! 🏆

Two starts this season. Two wins.

He won over 1800m under Trent Mayhew, once again giving his fantastic group of owners another unforgettable day.

The new partnership is only a few weeks old and August has already delivered three winners and a host of strong performances. We are incredibly grateful to our owners, our team and everyone behind the scenes.
