Step into the land of tartan and bagpipes at the Fort Nottingham Highland Gathering! Join us on August 9th, 2023, in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal Midlands for an unforgettable celebration of Scottish culture and tradition. Experience the thrill of the Highland Games as you witness kilted athletes compete in events like the Caber Toss, Tug-o-War and Weight over the Bar. Enjoy the sounds of bagpipes and drums as Scottish Pipe bands fill the air with stirring melodies of mother Scotland and her hills and dales covered in timeless mist. Feast on traditional Scottish delicacies like haggis and neeps, and sample fine whiskies originating from the infamous Whisky regions. But that's not all – the Fort Nottingham Highland Gathering is also a showcase of the rich history and culture of the Midlands. Explore the picturesque village of Fort Nottingham, with its charming cottages and sweeping views of the surrounding hills. Come and learn about the region's fascinating past, from the Zulu Wars to the Boer War, and discover the stories of the people who shaped this land. So come and join us for a day of Scottish revelry and Midlands heritage at the Fort Nottingham Highland Gathering on Woman’s Day, 9 th August 2023. On behalf of the Organising Committee of the Fort Nottingham Highland Gathering, we extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to all the judges, teams, athletes, volunteers, stall holders, performers, marching bands, pipers, support services, sponsors, supporters and spectators who helped make this year’s Gathering such a memorable success.

Your enthusiasm and passion brought the spirit of the Highland Games and the magic of Fort Nottingham to life. From the incredible feats of strength and sportsmanship on the field, to the stirring sound of bagpipes, the colour of the marching bands, the wonderful performances, and the delicious food and unique offerings from our stall holders — every contribution added something special to the day. 🎶🥁🍴

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every team whose commitment brought colour, tradition and excellence to the field. Congratulations to our medal winners and record-breakers for their outstanding achievements, and to every athlete who competed with determination, respect and true camaraderie. Your efforts, whether on the podium or not, embodied the values that make the Highland Gathering so special.

A special thank you goes to our judges, volunteers and support teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly. Your dedication and commitment were invaluable.

The Fort Nottingham Highland Gathering is about far more than competition — it is a celebration of heritage, community and friendship. Each and every one of you played an important role in creating an unforgettable celebration of our 170-year Fort Nottingham legacy.
