The DSV SHIFT Academy is more than just a cycling academy. We are a platform for young, aspiring cyclists to unlock their potential, both on and off the bike.

Through training, mentorship, and opportunities to compete, we empower the next generation of South African cyclists to chase their dreams. With the support of incredible sponsors and dedicated coaches, our academy fosters talent, builds character, and promotes a spirit of resilience. In a bunch, the rider on the front absorbs the wind so everyone behind can hold the pace. Nobody stays there forever. You do your turn, you swing off, and someone else comes through.

It’s a fair way to think about heritage. Everything our riders have access to now, the coaching, the kit, a proper racing calendar, exists because someone did a turn on the front before them.

That is our objective at DSV SHIFT Academy: developing young riders who are ready to lead when the road opens up in front of them.

martin_ was one of our first ever recruits and is now our longest standing rider at the DSV SHIFT Academy. We have watched him grow from a boy into a man as he continues to grow from strength to strength.

An update on AMBER ROSE 🩼🤕

A few weeks ago, Amber was struck by a bakkie, whilst walking near her home. The impact pushed her into a wall, which collapsed onto her legs, leaving her with multiple serious fractures, requiring surgery.

On 7 September her cast finally came off, a big milestone! There is still some swelling and pain, with physio being the next step.

In true Amber spirit, she ended her update with:
“Hopefully I can start cycling in a few months.”

Take your time, Amber. Heal well and grow strong. The bike isn’t going anywhere, neither are we.

A milestone for the DSV SHIFT Academy, and one that says a great deal about what four years of consistent investment in young athletes can produce.

Yahyaa Martin has been selected by Cycling South Africa to attend the Confederation of African Cycling Road Training Camp in Kenya from 1 to 25 October 2026. The programme is delivered in partnership with the International Olympic Committee and the Union Cycliste Internationale, and is designed to prepare Africa’s leading young road cyclists ahead of the Dakar 2026 Youth The Olympic Games™️ Games.

Yahyaa joined DSV SHIFT Academy at its inception in 2022, as our youngest rider at the time. His selection is the result of his own work, and a development pathway built by the DSV SHIFT Academy to give talented young South African cyclists genuine access to the sport at its highest levels.

That pathway does not exist without our partners. Our thanks to DSV - Global Transport and Logistics , and the rest of our partners, whose backing turns opportunity into something a rider can actually reach.

Congratulations, Yahyaa. You have earned this 💪

Spring is here, and so is our rider of the month announcement 📢

Our rider of the month from August and going into September is a rider who has been improving in leaps and bounds at the Western Province Cycling Association track league. Congratulations TYBO SPEC 🚴

The race calendar is filling up again, and we are keen to see our riders back in action competing for the next rider of the month award. 🏆
