Winter Special at The Container House. Even though it may be cold outside at night and warm during the day, The Container House with it's phenomenal insulation, keeps the house very warm. Add an open fire, and a large heated whirlpool bath, and you have the makings of a fantastic stay at The Container House. When you book, you get exclusive use of the house and River Front. Winter Special is R600pp for the weekend. Min 10 people. If you are more than 10 people extra people cost R300pp. The house sleeps 22 people in the 5 bedrooms. We only accept one booking per weekend, so dont miss out.

The Container House is a large house with 5 bedrooms on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys. 100km from JHB. Need a break with family and friends. The house sleeps 20+ people. Next to the house is The Hideout, which is another 4 rooms. They each sleep 6 to 8 people. We still have weekends available in December 2023. The venue is ideal for groups of 10+ as you get exclusive use of the house, property and river frontage. Weekend rates are R7700.00 for the first 10 people for the weekend and R300pp if more than 10. Venue ideal for family get together's, bachelors, garden weddings, conferences. Mid week discounts apply.

There is only one booking per weekend. Once you enquire, you will be sent a booking form. This will be valid for 24hrs. The booking is confirmed on receipt of payment.

The River started dropping quite quickly once the water from the other rivers subsided. The 12 sluice gates remained open for another 2 weeks. Once the water had dropped to its normal level, the cleanup operation started. The water deposits huge amount of mud. In the case of The Container House, this mud is on top of the lawn. The only way to wash the mud off the lawn is to pump water from the river onto the mud, to loosen the mud and then wash it back into the river. This involves raking and pushing the mud into the river. We used a Petrol pump which pumps 50 000l per hour. With 7 people it took 3 days to clear the mud. In some places the mud was knee deep.

The recent floods along the Vaal River caused major damage to many houses and properties along the River. The Vaal River was at its highest level for many years. The Vaal dam opened 12 sluice gates to relieve pressure at the dam. There was a huge amount of water coming in from Standerton to an already full dam. The Vaal dam rose to 119%, which is the highest recorded level. The flow from the 12 sluice gates raised the level of the river significantly, however heavy rains from other areas flowing into the Vaal River caused the damage. As this extra water was unexpected and uncontrolled as there are no dams along the way, the level of the River increased rapidly on the 18th and 19th Feb 2023.

We have just completed building our large whirlpool bath. The whirlpool bath can seat 14 people comfortably with another 8 standing. The whirlpool bath is heated enabling one to enjoy the streaming water and air bubbles 24 hours a day. The whirlpool bath overlooks the Vaal River and with a beautiful sunset over the river, one could not wish for a better end to a busy day.

Need an exclusive venue for a large group to host a family gathering, Bachelor party or just to get away, the Container House is the perfect venue. The venue has 8 rooms and 80m River Frontage. Cost for the first 10 people is R750.00 per person for the weekend. Extra people cost is R300.00 pp for the weekend.
