Long standing club president Robert Thompson welcomed the past and present members and handed over the prizes to the winners.
We are forever grateful to the founding members who started the Parys Squash Club in 1976 and we very fortunate to have some of them attend the festivities today. Dr Piet Swartz told the story of how the courts were planned and built by the Parys municipality and Mr Lou van Wyk explained the history behind the Pokken Homer trophy that was awarded to the winner of the bells tournament this morning!
Thank you Heinie Rutkowski and his wife Estelle who did all the tournament admin. Heinie also won the most points and is the recipient of the Pokken Homer trophy.
Almari Claassen was the runner up and lady with the most points, winning the Thompson family trophy for her efforts.
Other prizes went to Caroline Prinsloo, who got the sharp shooter and chicken awards for the day.
Karyn Vosloo won the let's just take over award.
Lou van der Merwe won the swishy award. And Mossie got the breker award.
Thank you to Robert and the committee for the unwavering effort in keeping our club running smoothly and organising the festivities.
