On Tuesday evening, Collegians' Harriers gathered for our annual Aches & Pains Comrades Awards Night πŸ†

After months of training, race day nerves, triumphs, challenges, and everything in between, it was time to come together, share a few laughs, relive the memories, and recognise some of the outstanding achievements from this year's Comrades journey.

While the trophies recognise individual achievements, the evening was really about celebrating every athlete who took on the challenge of Comrades. Each runner arrived at the start line with their own goal, their own story, and their own reason for being there.

Events like these remind us that running is about so much more than finish times. It's about friendships formed on training runs, encouragement shared when things get tough, and a club community that celebrates every success, big or small.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening and helped make it such a special occasion. Here's to the memories made, the lessons learnt, and the next adventure waiting just around the corner.

The road to ComradesMarathon is never just about race day.

It begins months before the starter's gun. In the darkness of early mornings. In long training runs when most people are still asleep. In the sacrifices made, the kilometres accumulated, the sore legs, the self-doubt, and the determination to keep going anyway.

This Tuesday, Collegians' Harriers came together for our annual Comrades Pasta Party 🍝 β€” a chance to pause, reflect, and celebrate what our athletes have already achieved before they even take a step on the start line this Sunday.

Preparing for the Comrades Marathon is no small task. It requires commitment, discipline, resilience, and the support of family, friends, training partners, and fellow club members. Simply earning the right to stand on that start line is an achievement in itself.

To every Collegians athlete taking on the journey from Durban to Pietermaritzburg this weekend: be proud of how far you have come. Trust the training, trust the process, and trust yourselves. You have done the work.

A special thank you must also go to the many volunteers, supporters, drivers, water table crews, family members, and club helpers who will be out on the route throughout the day. Your encouragement, energy, and support help carry runners through some of their toughest moments. Comrades is not only a race for those wearing the numbersβ€”it is a team effort built on an incredible community spirit.

As race day approaches, excitement is building. We wish all our runners safe travels, strong legs, and unforgettable memories on The Ultimate Human Race.

See you on the road. πŸ…

The countdown is on. ⏳

While many of our ComradesMarathon-bound athletes have entered that strange phase of training where running takes a back seat to sleeping, eating, stretching, and checking the weather forecast every few hours πŸŒ¦οΈπŸ˜„, others were still out proudly wearing the Collegians Harriers colours this weekend.

The KZN Trail Running event at Hilton College provided the perfect opportunity to swap tar for trails and take on some challenging terrain.

Well done to all our athletes who took part and represented Collegians' Harriers so well. As for those tackling the journey from Durban to Pietermaritzburg this weekend... enjoy the taper, trust the training, and remember that the start line is now just around the corner.

From the streets of Cape Town to the roads and trails of KwaZulu-Natal, Collegians' Harriers were out representing this weekend with determination, teamwork, and plenty of memorable moments. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

A group of our athletes travelled to the Mother City for the Cape Town Marathon weekend, starting with the uplifting 5km Peace Run on Saturday before taking on the marathon on Sunday. With beautiful weather, incredible atmosphere, and great support along the route, it was a weekend full of positive energy and strong performances.

Congratulations to:
Derren Grantham, Janine Grantham, Mandlenkosi Madondo, Andile Mthimkulu, Orrin Cottle, Gillian Cottle, Nicholas Cottle, Nicole de Lange, Lauren Kambaran and Stewart Chite for proudly representing Collegians Harriers and giving their all across the weekend. πŸ‘

Back home in KwaZulu-Natal, our runners were also in action at the Discovery Vitality Run Series – Peace in Africa Run (21km). Well done to Lungelo Caluza, Peter Devine and Shelldine Ferguson on completing the event and flying the Collegians flag locally. πŸ”₯

The trails were calling too, with the Karkloof Country Club - Karkloof Trail Festival taking place on Saturday. Well done to Conan O'Dwyer for taking on the 21km trail run through the beautiful Karkloof countryside. πŸŒΏπŸ‘

As we edge closer to the ComradesMarathon, emotions are starting to build. Some of our athletes are entering taper phase now β€” where phantom aches and pains suddenly appear, and self-doubt starts creeping in. But after months of early mornings, sacrifices, and relentless training, the hard work has already been done.

In just 18 days, our athletes will stand on the start line in Durban ready to take on The Ultimate Human Race. To every Collegians runner preparing for that moment β€” YOU GOT THIS! πŸ’ͺ

Whether travelling across the country or running closer to home, it’s always special to see our athletes embracing the experience, supporting one another, and continuing to put in the work.

This weekend, Collegians' Harriers had the honour of hosting the KZNA Cross Country league #10 β€” and what a day it turned out to be! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

With an incredible 271 athletes entered, the course was filled with energy, determination, and plenty of memorable performances. It was fantastic to welcome not only some of the province’s top running clubs, including Umngeni Howick Academy, LIV2Run and Phuma KZN Athletics Club, but also schools such as Laddsworth Primary School, Maritzburg College, Longmarket Girls' School and Pelham Primary, all bringing fantastic support and competition to the event.

From record-breaking performances to personal bests and breakthrough runs, there was so much to celebrate throughout the day. One of the most inspiring sights was seeing athletes of all ages taking part β€” from youngsters as young as 6 years old to runners in their 70s and beyond. That’s what makes our sport so special.

A huge thank you goes to every volunteer who helped make the event possible. From marshals, timekeepers, water tables and first aid teams, to those preparing food behind the scenes β€” your contribution played a massive role in keeping the event running smoothly. πŸ‘

πŸ“Έ We’ve shared plenty of photos from the day, so be sure to have a look and relive some of the action!

Sunday kept the momentum going, with Collegians Harriers athletes also taking part in the East Coast Radio Big Walk, African Oxpecker, and the Stella Royal 10km.

To every athlete who raced, walked, volunteered, trained, or simply showed up and gave their best this weekend β€” well done. At Collegians Harriers, there is a place for everyone, and we are proud to support people from all walks of life on their journey.

Our weekly Tuesday Time Trials are held at the clubhouse starting at 5:15pm, with distances of 2km, 4km and 7km available. Whether you are training seriously, starting your fitness journey, or simply looking to be part of a welcoming running community β€” come join us!
