On these winter days, the light does magical things. It caught my students suspended in a low hammock inversion perfectly.
This week, teaching low hammock Aerial Yoga, I remembered that besides my fascination for the joy and elation of flips and tricks, there is a deep appreciation for the slower, lower approach.
In these restorative poses, we are able to surrender and release in a way that wouldn't be possible without the silk. There is such a grace in the movements, the slow swaying, as we rock ourselves into a calmer state of being, of experiencing.
I love the accessibility of this — because we are closer to the earth and can feel its support, the class is less daunting for beginners. It is a way in for students wondering about Aerial Yoga but feeling hesitant to try.
Less acrobatics, more presence.
A chance to feel the subtleties of each pose
and the essence of yoga.
I will be teaching low hammock sessions every Friday from 8.30-9.45am for the next two months. This is your chance to try it.
