They're off!
Today we wish our four Limpopo fencers every success as they travel to represent South Africa at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Lagos Nigeria.
Your dedication, discipline, and perseverance have brought you to this moment. Compete with courage, enjoy every experience, and know that your Limpopo fencing family is incredibly proud of you. No matter the results, you have already made history and inspired the next generation of fencers.

Limpopo Fencing Association (LFA) could not have done this without our sponsors. Heartfelt thanks to:
National Lotteries Commission
University of Limpopo
Bryte Insurance

We also want to thank Mitchum Blakeman, Lilla Gyovai, Adam van Ederen, Cailyn Duncan and Susan Agrella for their kit contribution.
Safe travels, fence with pride, and bring home unforgettable memories. We will be cheering you on every step of the way!

From a conversation to an international opportunity...
What began as a conversation between Renuka Ramroop, Chairperson of the Limpopo Fencing Association, and Barbara Bruderer Eichberg of Fechtgesellschaft Basel has grown into an extraordinary opportunity for two young female fencers from rural Limpopo.
Congratulations to Gloria Bopape (Ditlalemeso Fencing Club) and Thabile Matheta (Frans Mohlala Fencing Club), who are representing the E Tla Natšo Youth Project of the Limpopo Fencing Association at the prestigious Basel Fencing Training camp in Switzerland.
Our sincere thanks to Barbara Bruderer Eichberg, Fechtgesellschaft Basel, and coach Philipp Pleier for believing in our vision and investing in our fencers. We also thank the Limpopo Academy of Sport for making their journey to Switzerland possible through its support of their international travel.
This opportunity is about far more than fencing. It reflects our shared belief in development through sport—using sport to build confidence, broaden horizons, create international friendships, strengthen social capital, and empower young people to become leaders within their communities.
This partnership demonstrates what can be achieved when organisations come together with a common purpose: creating life-changing opportunities for young people who simply need someone to believe in their potential.
We wish Gloria and Thabile every success as they proudly represent Limpopo and the E Tla Natšo Project.
Opportunity changes lives.

We are incredibly proud to announce that four fencers from Limpopo will be represent South Africa at the upcoming Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Nigeria.
This achievement is particularly significant as it reflects years of dedication, hard work, and the growth of fencing opportunities within our province. In the national squad are athletes who have risen through our development programme E tla natšo, demonstrating that talent, determination, and opportunity can create pathways to the international stage.
Representing South Africa at a major international championship is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but it also comes with significant costs, including travel, accommodation, visas, meals, and other tournament-related expenses.
We are therefore appealing to individuals, businesses, and organisations to help support these deserving young athletes on their journey. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help make their dream of competing for South Africa a reality.
If you would like to support our Commonwealth team, please contact us or send us a message.
Join us in wishing our fencers every success as they prepare to represent Limpopo and South Africa with pride!

Another young woman empowered through sport ✨🤺
Through the valued partnership and support of the Women in Sport Trust, one of our fencers from University of Limpopo Fencing Club has been awarded a bursary opportunity — another reminder that Limpopo Fencing Association creates pathways far beyond the piste.
Living our motto of development through sport, we remain committed to empowering young women both in sport and in education.
Thank you to the Women in Sport Trust for believing in the potential of our athletes and for helping us continue creating meaningful opportunities for the youth of Limpopo.
