MEC MASEKO TO LEAD THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF MOPETSI LIBRARY IN FETAKGOMO-TUBATSE SEKHUKHUNE DISTRICT

The Limpopo Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Funani Jerry Maseko, will officially open the Mopetsi Library, marking a significant milestone in the department’s commitment to expanding access to information, education, and knowledge infrastructure across the province.

The newly constructed Mopetsi Library stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity for the local community. Equipped with modern facilities, digital resources, study areas and internet connectivity, the library is designed to serve learners, students, researchers, entrepreneurs and the broader community.

The opening of the Mopetsi Library aligns with the Limpopo Department of Sport, Arts and Culture’s mandate to promote reading culture, preserve heritage, and provide inclusive access to information services, particularly in rural and underserved communities. The community members, traditional leaders, educators, and stakeholders are expected to attend the ceremony, which will celebrate the transformative power of knowledge and community development.

MEC Maseko earlier today met with the family of the late Sefako Mapogo Makgatho's family, Limpopo Geographical Names Committee, LHIRA ,the head of Department and the Heritage and museums unit from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture Limpopo to discuss the logistics of hanging the statue of Mr. Sefako Mapogo Makgatho in order to honor the heroes of the liberation of our country.

The discussion included how important it is to teach the youth of today the history and culture of Limpopo Province so that they can know where they come from, to strenthen social cohesion through pur heritage and our culture and promote nation building in our province.
