Happy Women’s Day to all the incredible women of Top-Line Equestrian, and to women everywhere.

Let’s choose to lift each other up, celebrate each other’s wins, support one another through the hard days, and be the woman who encourages rather than tears another woman down. There is room for all of us to shine.

Here’s to strong women, kind hearts, and standing together.

💡 Understanding the Outside Rein

One of the most common phrases in riding is:

“Ride from the inside leg to the outside rein.”

But what does that actually mean?

Think of your inside leg as creating the energy and encouraging your horse to step forward and underneath themselves.

Your outside rein doesn’t pull the head into place or act as a brake. Instead, it receives, supports and organizes that energy, helping your horse stay balanced and straight.

A correct outside rein:
✔️ Supports the outside shoulder.
✔️ Helps maintain straightness.
✔️ Regulates the rhythm and stride.
✔️ Creates a steady, elastic contact.

Think of it as a guard rail, not a brake.

The goal isn’t to pull harder on the outside rein—it’s to create a consistent contact that your horse confidently reaches into.

Remember:
🐴 Inside leg creates the energy.
🐴 Outside rein gives that energy somewhere to go.

When those aids work together, you create balance, straightness and self-carriage.
