Some drone footage taken earlier this week of the Sundays River mouth. The mouth area is not looking healthy and this could be the reason why the freshwater is not escaping the estuary quick enough.
Angling Club situated in Sundays River. The Sundays River Angling Club was established in 1934. Our Club is open to Boat, Bank, Kayak and Rock & Surf members.
Our motto through the years is 'To encourage the spirit of harmony and good fellowship amongst all anglers'. The Club is the biggest angling Club situated in the Cannonville / Colchester Village. We support and give back to our community through fundraising events. We have a social section and a Provincial section. Club open nights are well supported by members and locals. Official Update – Competition Postponed
After reviewing the poll results and the current river conditions, a final decision has been made to postpone the competition.
At the moment, more than half of the species being caught are coming from the river mouth area. Unfortunately this section can only comfortably accommodate around 20 boats, while we currently have over 160 anglers entered.
Although the competition area covers roughly 8 km of river, only about 1 km is realistically fishable under the current conditions due to the recent flooding. This would make it very difficult to run a fair and safe competition for everyone involved.
With over 70% of the poll votes supporting postponement, we believe this is the most responsible decision for the anglers and for the quality of the competition.
The event will therefore be postponed to August, allowing the river time to recover and ensuring a much better fishing experience for everyone.
All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled event, and further details regarding the new date and arrangements will be shared soon.
We understand that this may cause inconvenience for some anglers, and we truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. This competition has taken months of planning, and our goal is to make sure it runs under the best possible conditions for all participants.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to hosting a great event once the river has recovered.
