Chasing yellowfin tuna is no easy feat, but apex predators like the blue marlin, shown in this painting, are experts at hunting in the open ocean. I aimed to depict a massive blue marlin by filling the frame as if it were too large to capture in a single shot, with the marlin focusing on individual fish at the edges.

One of Africa’s fiercest river predators, the tigerfish. It strikes with incredible speed and precision, taking down its prey in a single bite. With large jaws, sharp eyes, and a sleek, powerful body, these fish are built for hunting.
Capturing their wild ferocity in paint is a challenge I relish. I start with pencil studies, then move on to a preliminary concept sketch—an essential step in bringing “Fire Tiger” to life.
