The Barberton paragliding comp 2025 was an awesome week for everyone involved. It gave us all a great chance to sharpen our flying skills, learn from each other, and just enjoy some fantastic flying conditions.

One of the newer pilots in our club (Shaun) joined the comp and really got a lot out of the experience. His thermaling skills improved massively over the week, and he even managed to hit the first turnpoint on the last task β€” a big milestone for him. This has fired him up even more to keep flying and improving, which is great to see. He also spent very valuable time talking to many different pilots and picking up tips and useful advice and then applying it to his flying the next day πŸͺ‚

Overall, everyone flew very well and showed solid progress. The friendly competition brought out the best in all of us. Special congratulations to Cal and Shaun for winning their classes β€” well deserved!

The Barberton comp wasn’t just about the competition; it was about growing as pilots and as a club. It’s left us all motivated and excited for the next flying adventure.

We hope to see even more Hawkwinders at the comp next year

Hawkwind is getting active as the summer approaches. This last weekend we set out to Wilderness for a good mix of flying conditions. New pilots, Mark and Henri, built up their confidence while getting hours of flying times in nice safe soaring conditions. Dirk (Hangman) impressed all the locals with a first time flight from Hotel to Map to Serps to PR to Gerrikes and back. The other PG pilots all had fun on the coastal ridges and mountains. Summer you beaut
