There was a special sense of pride at the Eastern Province Golf Union on Wednesday, 23 September, as the 2026 Eastern Province Mid-Amateur Team was officially recognised and sent off ahead of the Inter-Provincial Tournament at San Lameer Golf Club from 5 to 9 October. 🥳
The send-off was an opportunity to celebrate the players who have earned their places through months of competition, practice and commitment to the game.
Selected for the team are André van Staden, Bazil Coenraad, Johan Smit, Hando Brophy, Sean Lottering, Johan Coetzer, Chris van Rensburg and Ivan-John du Preez, with Charl Swart named as reserve. The team will be managed by Rowlin Adonis. EP Golf President Karl du Preez, Director Philip Horowitz, members of the EP Golf leadership and, importantly, the players’ families were there to share in the occasion. 😊
Each player’s family had the opportunity to hand over their kit, a meaningful way of recognising the support behind every practice session, tournament and sacrifice that comes with representing the province. Team Manager Rowlin Adonis made a point of acknowledging that support, reminding everyone that the players do not reach these moments alone. He also reflected on what selection represents.
The team captain echoed that appreciation, thanking everyone who has been part of the journey and recognising the sacrifices made by the players themselves. His message ahead of the tournament was clear: the team will head to San Lameer determined to give their best and fly the Eastern Province flag high. 🙌
President Karl du Preez also shared his own connection with Mid-Amateur golf and spoke about the strength that can be built within a provincial team through competing together. His message carried both encouragement and expectation as the team prepares to take on the challenge ahead.
Eastern Province Golf congratulates every member of the 2026 Mid-Amateur Team on their selection and thanks the families, coaches, clubs, sponsors and EP Golf committee members who continue to support the players along the way. 👏
To the team, enjoy the opportunity and wear the EP colours with pride. The province is behind you. 🐘❤️
