The morning started with one goal in mind – finding a good kudu bull. As the sun began to rise, we made our way into a beautiful valley and stopped to do some glassing. We spent some time carefully scanning the hillsides and bush, hoping to spot a kudu, but despite our efforts, none showed themselves.

Just as we were about to move on, we spotted a group of warthogs feeding across the valley. We watched as they slowly made their way down and eventually crossed toward our side. Knowing we had an opportunity, we settled in and waited patiently for the right moment.

When the shot presented itself, Perry was ready. At 120 meters, he made a solid shot, and the warthog was down. What started as a kudu hunt quickly turned into an exciting and successful warthog hunt – a great reminder that every day in the bush can bring an unexpected adventure.

After some much-needed rain, we headed out with Perri in search of a cull ostrich. The fresh conditions made for a beautiful day in the veld, it wasn't long before we spotted the right bird.

With a steady rest and plenty of patience, Perri lined up for a long shot at 210 meters. The shot rang out, and the ostrich dropped cleanly, an excellent display of marksmanship.

A successful hunt, great memories, and another day well spent in the African bush. Congratulations, Perri, on a fantastic shot and a well-earned cull ostrich!

Kudu Management Bull Hunt

This old Kudu management bull was a perfect example of an animal that would likely not have made it through the winter. With declining condition and age catching up to him, he was selected as a management animal.

The hunt started with an exciting stalk on a bull high up in the mountains. We carefully worked our way into position, but like many old kudu bulls, he managed to slip away and disappear into the rugged terrain.

Later, we spotted the management bull and took the opportunity. The first shot unfortunately struck the leg, and with daylight fading fast, we made the difficult decision to back out and continue the search the following morning.

At first light, we picked up the tracks and began following them through the mountains. The spoor eventually led us to a steep cliff edge. It became clear that after the shot, the bull had attempted to escape through the rough terrain, but in doing so had jumped from the cliff and broken his neck.

While the recovery wasn't the ending we had planned for, it was a reminder of just how tough and resilient kudu can be. The mountains always have the final say, and this old bull gave us a hunt we won't soon forget.

The old Warrior
warthog boar. Many years of survival, and respect earned in the bush. I will always remember the moment, taken ethically, remembered with gratitude. He was past his prime scarred, cautious, and wise to every trick in the bush. His one tusk were broken off down from years of digging and fighting, proof he’d survived more seasons than most. The day started early with Quin heading out in search of a black wildebeest before focusing on kudu. Not long after sunrise, the opportunity presented itself and Quin made a successful shot, taking a beautiful black wildebeest and setting the tone for an exciting day ahead.

With the morning success behind us, we turned our attention to finding a mature kudu bull. Before long, we spotted a beautiful bull and quickly planned our stalk. But as every hunter knows, kudus never makes it easy. Just when we thought we had the advantage, we got bumped and the opportunity slipped away.

Not wanting to give up, we headed out again that afternoon with the same determination. Before making our next move, we sat for about 30 minutes glassing from the top of a hill, carefully scanning the mountain range across from us and taking in every bit of movement. Patience paid off as we finally spotted two kudu bulls following the kudu cows. One bull looked more impressive and mature than the other, and we decided to take a chance on him.

With plenty of eyes , the stalk had to be carefully planned. Using the thick bushes for cover, we slowly closed the distance, making every step count.

When the moment finally came, Quin stayed calm and made an excellent shot at 180 meters. The bull went down and the hard work, patience, and persistence paid off. A true African hunt—filled with challenge, patience, and reward—ending with both a beautiful black wildebeest and a good presentive kudu trophy to remember forever.

The Story Behind This Magnificent Giraffe

The hunt for this giraffe started early in the morning as we spent time glassing and carefully covering ground to find the right bull. Giraffe may look easy to spot, but getting into position on one is a completely different challenge. Using the terrain and bush for cover, we slowly closed the distance while making sure the wind stayed in our favor.

After a careful stalk and plenty of patience, the moment finally came. With nerves high and everyone focused, the shot was taken. Even for an animal of this size, proper shot placement and respect for the animal remain the top priority.

Standing beside one of Africa’s true giants is a feeling hard to describe.
A mixture of excitement, respect, and appreciation for the hunt and the experience. A magnificent giraffe, an unforgettable day in the bush, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Congratulations on an incredible trophy 🇿🇦🦒
