Things don’t always go according to plan, but that’s hunting—and it’s all about staying patient and never giving up.

Perry made a low shot on this waterbuck bull, so we backed out and gave him the time he needed instead of pushing him any further.
After lunch, we returned to the shot site, found blood, and put the dogs to work.
It wasn’t long before they picked up the trail. Deep in the thick bush, they bumped the bull, and the chase led all the way to a pond where he thought the water would be his escape. Perry stayed calm and finished the hunt with a precise neck shot.
A great recovery and another reminder of how valuable well-trained tracking dogs are. They never disappoint and continue to prove why they’re such an important part of every successful hunt.
Well done, Perry—and outstanding work from the dogs!

Sometimes patience is the key to success.

We first spotted this mature kudu bull from a long distance and carefully planned our approach, slowly closing the distance while staying in the same bush line as the herd. As we moved in, we found the kudu cows bedded down in the thick cover. Perry got on the shooting sticks, patiently waiting for the bull to step into an opening. The bull only exposed his horns, never offering a clear shot at his shoulder.

Then the wind shifted, and at just 80 yards the herd caught our scent and took off.

We stayed calm and watched as they moved through the thicket, waiting for them to step into a clearing. When the opportunity finally came, Perry made an excellent shot at approximately 250 yards, bringing a beautiful kudu bull to the ground.

A challenging stalk, plenty of patience, and a well-earned trophy to remember.

Scott and I spotted a good Impala ram at about 700m and planed our stalk and wind nice though the thick valley. Scott took the shot at 25meters Definitely one hell of a stalk to remember and a very good Impala ram.

The morning started with one goal in mind – finding a good kudu bull. As the sun began to rise, we made our way into a beautiful valley and stopped to do some glassing. We spent some time carefully scanning the hillsides and bush, hoping to spot a kudu, but despite our efforts, none showed themselves.

Just as we were about to move on, we spotted a group of warthogs feeding across the valley. We watched as they slowly made their way down and eventually crossed toward our side. Knowing we had an opportunity, we settled in and waited patiently for the right moment.

When the shot presented itself, Perry was ready. At 120 meters, he made a solid shot, and the warthog was down. What started as a kudu hunt quickly turned into an exciting and successful warthog hunt – a great reminder that every day in the bush can bring an unexpected adventure.
