That ringing in your ears after a day's shooting? That's not just tiredness - it's a warning.

Hearing damage from gunfire is usually gradual and painless, which is exactly what makes it so easy to ignore. There's no bruise, no bleeding - just a little less clarity each time, and sometimes a ringing that doesn't quite fade. That ringing is tinnitus, and for many people it eventually becomes permanent.

Here's the hard part: the tiny hair cells in your inner ear that pick up sound don't grow back once they're damaged. And a single unprotected gunshot - well over 140 decibels - is enough to do lasting harm.

The good news? It's almost entirely preventable with the right protection.

Let's talk about those little foam earplugs rolling around the bottom of your range bag.

They're better than nothing - but for shooters, "better than nothing" isn't really the goal.

❌ They block sound indiscriminately, so you lose range commands, your buddy's voice, and the bird flushing behind you.
❌ They rarely seal properly, so protection becomes hit and miss.
❌ They work loose the moment you move, talk, or mount your fi***rm.

Custom electronic hearing protection flips all of that around. Moulded to your ears for a proper seal, it clamps down on the gunshot in an instant while amplifying the quiet sounds you actually want to hear - footsteps, wings, conversation, commands.

Protection and awareness. You shouldn't have to choose between them.

Let us be a part of your hearing health now and for the future.

FitSonic offers custom made hearing protection that amplifies quiet sounds (like dogs, wings, footsteps, soft speech) and instantly blocks loud gunshots allowing the user to:
• Hear your dog’s bell or GPS collar
• Hear flushing birds
• Communicate with other shooters / hunters
• Maintain situational awareness
• Have effective hearing protection
• Experience maximum comfort
• Enjoy long-term daily use
• Enjoy discreet, non-bulky gear
• Enjoy your favourite brim hat and sunglasses without interference from your hearing protection

Safe shooting is not only about handling fi***rms correctly — it is also about protecting your body, especially your hearing, for the future.

Hearing protection is one of the most important parts of safe shooting. A single gunshot can damage your hearing forever, especially when fi***rms are used regularly or in enclosed spaces. Once hearing is damaged, it usually cannot be repaired. Protecting your ears helps prevent hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), and long-term discomfort.

When shooting, sound levels are extremely high and can reach dangerous decibel levels within seconds. That is why every shooter, hunter, instructor, and spectator should wear proper hearing protection at all times on the range or in the field.

Custom-made ear protection is considered one of the best practices for shooting sports and hunting. Unlike standard earplugs, custom-made protection is designed to fit the exact shape of your ears. This provides better comfort, improved noise reduction, and a secure fit that stays in place during movement. Many custom options also allow important sounds, such as instructions or conversation, to still be heard while blocking harmful gunshot noise.

Using quality hearing protection shows responsibility, professionalism, and respect for your long-term health. Safe shooting is not only about handling fi***rms correctly — it is also about protecting your body, especially your hearing, for the future.

Electronic hearing protection is an important investment in protecting your hearing while allowing you to remain aware of your surroundings. With proper care, it can provide reliable performance for many years.

One of the most important maintenance tips is to remove the batteries after every shoot, especially if the hearing protection will not be used for an extended period. Batteries left inside the unit can leak over time, causing corrosion that may permanently damage the electronic components. Removing the batteries also helps prevent unnecessary power drain, ensuring your hearing protection is ready for your next outing. The CENS case includes a designated space where the batteries can be conveniently stored using the magnetic tool supplied with your kit.

It is also recommended that you regularly wipe your CENS earpieces and electronic units with the alcohol swabs provided in the kit. Use the blowing tool included in the kit, or a soft, dry cloth, to remove dust, sweat, and moisture. Store your units in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, and regularly inspect the battery compartment for signs of wear or damage.

FitSonic will also be adding a drying capsule to all CENS ProFlex kits to help improve the longevity of your device. By taking a few simple steps to care for your electronic hearing protection, you can extend its lifespan, maintain its performance, and continue protecting one of your most valuable assets - your hearing.
