If you’re new to my page, this space is all about positivity, motivation, and inspiring others to move their bodies, improve their health, and create a healthier lifestyle.
I’m Leana — a 39-year-old wife, mom, and personal trainer. My fitness journey started with EMS training in 2022, followed by personal training in 2023. Up to date I have had the privilege to work with 732 clients, either through individual programs, online training, video call sessions or 1:1.

Little honest post today…
I haven’t really been feeling like myself lately and maybe some of you can relate to this.
Perimenopause and menopause is something every woman will face, but nobody truly prepares you for it. One day you are fine, the next you are sweating through your pajamas at 2am wondering if Eskom moved into your body. 😅
About 3 years ago I had all the symptoms… night sweats, insomnia, hair loss and heart palpitations so bad I thought I was dying. Then it suddenly stopped and I felt normal again.
Well… apparently not. 😅
Two months ago it hit me again like a bulldozer, just differently this time. The exhaustion was overwhelming, my skin became so dry that the Kalahari wasn't a match and the hair loss was next level. Emotionally? Yoh. One minute you are fine, next minute you cry because somebody ate the last piece of broccoli 🥦.
After blood tests it was confirmed once again: I am not dying, I don't need a psychiatrist...my hormones are simply having a wild farewell party.
What many women don’t realize is that hormonal changes can affect sleep, mood, metabolism, muscle mass, weight gain and even bone density. As estrogen declines, strength training and proper nutrition becomes even more important after 35 to support muscle, bone health, energy and overall wellness.
And no… surviving on coffee, one Provita and pure stress is unfortunately not a wellness plan anymore. 😅
To every woman reading this: you are not failing. You are still beautiful and strong. Your body is changing. Keep going, even on the hard days.
And to every man reading this… she is still the same "Susan" you married. She just needs support, patience, a hug… and definitely snacks. ❤️

It’s only Tuesday… but at this point my gym session is less about fitness and more about keeping my hormones from starring in a crime documentary. 😅💪
After my back operation last year, I experienced difficulty performing certain exercises and had to focus on rehabilitation for an extended period. It has now been seven months since the surgery, and I have only recently begun incorporating some abdominal exercises into my routine.
Most upper body exercises are now manageable, but lower body training was initially very challenging. However, through consistent and appropriate strengthening exercises, I have significantly improved my muscle strength and am currently working on rebuilding muscle.
I believe it is very important to listen to your body after an operation, as you understand your own limits best. At the same time, it is important not to give up when the process becomes difficult. With the right approach to training, meaningful progress is possible. Setbacks should not prevent you from continuing forward.

I won’t lie… the last couple of weeks was really a bit of a mess 🤦🏻♀️
With our move, my back giving problems again, and then of course all the lovely hormones we as women are blessed with, life was really not playing fair. And just to make it even more interesting, life does not stand still when you need a few extra minutes ⏰ in the day.
I really tried my best to at least keep my meals healthy, but I slacked a bit and unfortunately it shows. More muscle mass gone, cortisol levels sky high, and stress always makes me one of those people who just forget to eat. Smart? Definitely not. Helpful? Also not at all. 😂
So here I am, basically back to square one — almost where I was before my back operation. Which means I am starting from scratch again. And honestly, that is okay although I think this is number 7 in the past 2 years because of health issues 😬As long as giving up is not an option, starting over is nothing to be ashamed of.
I think many times in life we have such a fixed mindset that the moment our train 🚂 goes a little off track, we stop it completely and get off like the whole journey is finished. Instead of just putting it back on the rails and carrying on.
“A setback is only a setup for a stronger comeback.”
One thing I am truly grateful for is that we could literally move from Moove Secunda to Moove Silverton, and still the gym feels like home. No big changes, just the same Moove family welcoming you like they know you already for years. That really means a lot. ❤️
So now we push through again and look forward to some progress soon. One step at a time, one workout at a time... 😅💪
