"Farming with livestock in areas where predators are also present is hugely challenging, but holistically managing livestock can be sustainable and effective in reducing predation incidents. The Cape Leopard Trust in collaboration with the Endangered Wildlife Trust will be hosting two workshops focused on sustainable farming in harmony with predators in the Karoo next week โ on Tuesday 25th in Beaufort-West and Thursday 27th in Graaff-Reinet. From a paper I'm busy reading on the benefit of ecotourism and hunting to communal conservancies in Namibia. Academics get it and the evidence is there to be seen. More research needs to be done, but the benefit of hunting ITO conservation and community empowerment seems to be gaining more traction.
