There are several ways to identify if someone may be struggling with anxiety. Here are some common signs:

1. ๐—˜๐˜…๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฟ๐˜†: Constantly worrying about everyday situations and finding it difficult to control those thoughts.
2. ๐——๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—น๐˜๐˜† ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด: Anxiety can make it hard to focus, complete tasks or stay present in conversations, which may affect work, school or relationships.
3. ๐—ฃ๐—ต๐˜†๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฆ๐˜†๐—บ๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ผ๐—บ๐˜€: Anxiety can also show up physically through sweating, a racing heart, shortness of breath, trembling, headaches or fatigue.
4. ๐—”๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ: Someone experiencing anxiety may avoid situations, places, or activities that feel overwhelming or stressful.
5. ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ ๐—”๐˜๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐˜€: Some individuals may experience sudden episodes of intense fear or discomfort, often accompanied by physical symptoms such as chest tightness, dizziness or difficulty breathing.

Today, the Men Collective SA is commemorating World Safety and Health Day at Work, focusing on the importance of prioritising mental health in both personal and professional spaces.

Employees and line managers are being empowered with knowledge and tools to better understand, identify, and support mental health challenges in themselves and others, while also encouraging regular health screenings and overall wellness.

The initiative aims to create healthier, safer, and more supportive workplaces for all.

A large proportion of people with STIs may not have any signs or symptoms, and some may not be aware that they are infected. Therefore, using a condom is more effective for protection and prevention of STI and HIV infection.

As we continue observing Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, we pause to acknowledge the emotional realities many mothers quietly carry every day.

Motherhood changes everything: the body, the mind, the emotions, the nervous system and even identity itself. Men Collective SA supports Maternal , prenatal and postnatal. Our view is that all men should be active in all stages and be more involved. I was so thrilled to present this session.

Some mothers are healing while nurturing others.
Some are overwhelmed.
Some are exhausted.
Some are grieving who they were before motherhood.
Some simply need to be held too.

We remind every mother:

โœจ Your mental health matters.
โœจ Rest is not weakness.
โœจ Asking for support is strength.
โœจ You deserve care too.

Let us create communities where mothers feel emotionally safe, supported, seen and heard.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we want to remind you:

โœจ You are allowed to check in with yourself.
โœจ You are allowed to feel what you feel.
โœจ You are allowed to slow down.

Take a moment today to ask yourself:

* Am I overwhelmed?
* Am I tired?
* Do I need rest, support or space?

There is no shame in needing care. Thanks to City of Tshwane for hosting us on this incredible day.
