As an official veterans organization and voice of members of the former South African Police counterinsurgency (COIN) Unit. The COIN Veterans League is founded on unity and harmony, free of rank, apolitical, non-racial, non-sexist and a religious freedom foundation.

18 July 1968.
Const D Du Toit:-

Cst Daniël Du Toit was the first member of the South African Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit to be Killed in Action in the SA Border War that started on 26 August 1966.
He was killed during a contact with ZIPRA insurgents in a well defended position in the Rawamombe Range near Kariba, Rhodesia during Operation Griffin - a Joint operation in involving the RLI, RAR, SA Police and Rhodesian Air Force. He was part of the forward sweep and was engaged by the insurgents at very close range. One SAP officer and two other SAP Constables were wounded during this contact.
He was posthumously awarded the South African Police Star for Distinguished Service (SOO).
He was 21.

The grave of Const. D. Du Toit is situated in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Port Elizabeth.

There is no information available on the death of Cst K.S. Tsotetsi. He died performing active service as member of the SA Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit.

W/Off F.P.P Bezuidenhout:-

W/Off Freek Bezuidenhout ( best known as"Piet Kantien") was killed in a tion on active servicd. He was killed in a contact near Otavi in northern South West Africa. He was 47.
He was one of the S A Police Special Task Force originals who successfully passed Special Task Force selection 1 after it was established on the 1st of February 1976.

The grave of W/Off F.P.P. Bezuidenhout is situated in the Zandfontein Cemetery in Pretoria.

Cst L.J. Minnie:-

Cst L.J Minnie of the SA Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit was killed on active service. He fell to his death down a cliff while serving in Rhodesia. He was 25.

The grave of Cst Minnie is situated in the Port Elizabeth (North End) Cemetery, Eastern Cape.

Sgt F.A. Oosthuizen:-

Sgt FA Oosthuizen of the SA Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit was killed on active service. He Drowned serving in Rhodesia.

Sgt H.C. Janse Van Rensburg of the SA Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit was killed In Action. He was shot and killed during a contact on active service in Rhodesia. He was 26.

Cst W.P. Dobbin
Cst J.J. Henning:-

Cst Dobbin and Cst Henning of the SA Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit were killed In action. They were killed in a landmine explosion during active service in the Caprivi Strip in South West Africa.

Cst W.P Dobbin was 19. His grave is situated in the Greytown Cemetery in KZN.

Cst J.J. Henning was 28. His grave is situated in the Southpark Cemetery in Bloemfontein Free State.

W/Off P.H. Bezuidenhout

W/Off Bezuidenhout of the SA Police COIN (Counter Insurgency) Unit was killed performing active service in the Kavango, SWA. No information available of how he died.
