Last weekend, TUKS Sport and GVU, with guidance from the National Beach Program, hosted the very first HPC King of the Court event 🏐👑.

The event was created to give our National Beach Program male athletes valuable competitive gameplay opportunities, while also giving the volleyball community a chance to watch South Africa’s best beach volleyball athletes go head-to-head. 🇿🇦🔥

We were also excited to see the GVU Beach Volleyball Development Squad in action – an important feeder program into the National setup and the future of SA beach volleyball 💪🌊

Last year, Gauteng Volleyball Union, with guidance from the National Beach Volleyball Team of RSA, launched the province’s first ever Beach Performance Pathways, starting with a Junior Trial Day. This initiative has since evolved into the GVU Development Beach Program, with two squads training weekly over a six-month period. Talented athletes identified from these squads are invited to join High Performance Development Squad trainings at the Hpc "High Performance Centre" in Pretoria with the aim of developing holistic beach volleyball athletes for international success.

Performance pathways are essential in Beach Volleyball, offering a structured and strategic approach to identifying, developing, and transitioning athletes from grassroots to elite levels. The long-term vision is for all provinces to establish Development Squads and provide a High Performance training environment, ensuring talented athletes have the resources they need to reach their full potential.

Madame Bouchra Hajij, Présidente de la Confédération africaine de volleyball (CAVB), a exprimé ses plus sincères félicitations à Madame Kirsty Coventry, élue présidente du Comité International Olympique (CIO), ce 20 mars 2025.

L’élection de l’ancienne athlète zimbabwéenne, est une avancée majeure dans l’histoire du sport mondial.

Bouchra Hajij n’a pas manqué de saluer cet événement historique. Dans une déclaration empreinte d’enthousiasme, elle a tenu à souligner l’importance de cette élection en affirmant :

« Félicitations et longue vie à l’Afrique ! »

Cette élection consacre non seulement l’excellence et l’engagement de Madame Coventry dans le domaine du sport et de la gouvernance internationale, mais elle témoigne également d’une évolution significative vers une meilleure inclusion des femmes dans les plus hautes instances sportives mondiales.
