We had some sad news early yesterday morning, Peter Thompson our brother in law passed away. Joan, Peters wife ,is Kathys sister. They had sold their house in George to move up here to be with their daughter, Debbie.Please remember Joan, Debbie, Gary,Kailyn and Joshua in your prayers also for the soul of Peter who I am sure is having fun with their daughter, Candy, who passed away some years ago. Peter rest in peace, I was really looking forward to listening to some really great music with you.God Bless you and your family.

Sunday 15th April Kathy and I celebrated 44 years of marriage.It is amazing to think so long has passed, it feels like just the other day. I have so much to be thankful to Kathy for, 4 lovely children, 4 grandchildren, our own home with my business adjoining it.
What many people do not know Kathy came 3rd in the 1986 Universe competition. She impressed Chris Dickerson(1982 Mr Olympia) so much he did a feature on her, which was aired on
American T.V. All I can say is ,thank you Kathy for putting up with me for so long, I do love you.

Hi evertone, hoping you are all having a Blessed Easter. I am often asked,"what is training to failure". You have to put 100% effort into your set.A slow possitive, stop for a moment and then a slow negative, until you can not do another full rep. That is all that is needed to stimulate strength, muscle growth and weight loss, provided enough rest is given after the workout. Remember recovery must take place before any growth can happen and this could take up to, as much as, 4 to 6 days. So do not short change your work outs.Train Hard very hard 2 or 3 sets of less then max effort does not make up for 100%.

Although I train on Mike Mentzers Heavy Duty system and I train all my members on this system, reading and listening to him only highlighted some of the principals I found out and realized many years ago. Doing 1 set I realized during the early 60s when I first started and pushing your self hard to the very end (failure.), and always increasing your weights, once a standard number of reps was reached. What Mike taught, which I did not know was,the importance of rest between workouts and the workouts should be short.( no longer than 20 minutes why?? Because that is all the glycogen one has in his body.)

About 2 weeks ago i reached 70 years old, I did not realize but this year i would have been busy for 56 years with weight training. To this day i still enjoy every workout and try and improve all the time. This of course would be impossible as at this stage of my improvement, I should have been doing 500 pounds curls and presses and do not talk about Squats and Deadlifts. Ha Ha. Well I still dream of those monster workouts, one day, one day. Keep well and train hard, really hard and who knows your turn maybe there.

Very sad news this week, Lionel Kearns, owner of Lionels Gym and an old friend of mine died this week.
Although Lionel and I were opposition in our gyms, we were friends having competed against each other in bodybuilding and powerlifting. We also went to Europe together both competing in the Mr Universe and the Mr World competition.
Kathy and I wish Laverne and her sons all our prayers and hope God gives you peace.
