Creating nurturing, welcoming spaces where movement, breath, dance & embodied awareness expand your capacity to meet your life with presence & connection. Whether through classical ballet or somatic movement, my intention is the same: to explore all the ways movement brings joy, connection, restoration, and nourishment to our whole being—body, mind, heart, and soul.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬?

The answer is different for everyone.

For some, it's a childhood dream finally given the chance to unfold. For others, it's the desire to dance again, to challenge themselves, to reconnect with their bodies, or simply to try something new.

Whatever brings you through the studio doors, ballet soon becomes about much more than learning steps.

It invites you into the present moment. Your attention shifts to the music, your breath, and the movement. The noise of everyday life begins to quiet, if only for an hour.

Over time, the changes reach far beyond the studio. Your body grows stronger, more mobile, and more coordinated. You begin to trust it in new ways. You find joy in learning, friendships in unexpected places, and confidence not through perfection, but through showing up, week after week.

Perhaps that's the greatest gift of adult ballet.

It doesn't simply develop you as a dancer.

It develops you as a human being - through movement, music, discipline, community, and the quiet practice of becoming more yourself.

Because sometimes the most meaningful transformation isn't found in mastering ballet.

It's found in the person you become along the way.

When we think about caring for our nervous system we often picture rest, breathwork, mindfulness, or moments of stillness.

And while these are all valuable practices, they're not the only pathways.

Caring for your nervous system and building greater capacity to meet life's everyday demands can also happen through 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕.

The lovely thing about movement is that it is wonderfully diverse!

Sometimes it looks like a simple walk, gardening, hiking, dancing in your kitchen 😉, or simply stretching after a long day.

But other times, it can take the form of a more structured practice.
And perhaps surprisingly... a ballet class can be one of them.

It may not have been your first thought when you think about nervous system care, but a weekly adult ballet class offers many of the things our nervous system quietly thrive on: rhythm, repetition, music, focused attention, coordinated movement, and just enough challenge within a supportive and predictable environment.

Week after week, we practice staying present, adapting when things don't go as planned, laughing at our mistakes, trying again, and slowly discovering that we can do more than we once believed. Along the way, we also expand our movement possibilities, deepen our body awareness, and become more attuned to how we move. In doing so, we build confidence, flexibility, and resilience - not by avoiding challenge, but by meeting it in ways that feel manageable and supported.

And then there's something just as important: we don't do it alone.

Moving alongside others, sharing a smile, encouraging one another, and returning to the same familiar faces each week creates something quietly powerful. It reminds us that we're not alone. That we're welcomed. That we belong.

Perhaps that's one of the most quietly powerful gifts of a weekly ballet class: community...connection.

Ballet is so much more than learning steps.

It's a gentle, ongoing practice of caring for yourself through movement, presence, music, challenge, connection, and joy - one class at a time.

☘️A Small Practice for Everyday Li fe ☘️

The practices that support us don't always have to be big or time-consuming.

Sometimes all it takes is a single breath that feels just 5% softer or easier than the one before it.

Small, gentle moments like these are often where the nervous system feels supported - and they're practices you can return to, again and again, throughout your day.

As women, many of us naturally find ourselves caring for others.

We care for our children, our partners, our families, our homes, our friends, our colleagues, and often anyone who needs us. Giving becomes such a familiar part of who we are that before we know it, we've poured so much of ourselves into everyone else that we're left living on the little that's left...

If you've ever felt that way, you're certainly not alone.

Perhaps that's why the upcoming Women's Month feels like such a beautiful invitation.

Not only to celebrate women, but also to gently remind ourselves that we deserve care too.

That our well-being matters.

That we don't have to earn rest.

That taking care of ourselves isn't selfish - it's part of being human!

I've created 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 classes with exactly that in mind.

A place where, for just one hour, you don't need to achieve anything, fix anything, or be everything for everyone else.

You simply get to arrive as you are.

Together, we explore gentle movement, mindful breathing, and simple neuro-somatic practices that help your body find a little more ease, support your nervous system, and reconnect with yourself.

This isn't an exercise class, and it's not about fitness, flexibility, or performance.

It's a restorative practice - a chance to slow down, notice what your body might be carrying, and create space for rest, regulation, and renewal through gentle movement and breath.

☘️ Monthly Restorative Motion Pop-up Sessions
Held in The Willows, usually once or twice a month, either as:

• 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 @ 8𝑨𝑴 | 08:00–09:00

or

As these sessions vary from month to month, I'll share the dates here on my page, so keep an eye out if you'd like to join us.

Women's Month reminds us to celebrate women.

Perhaps this year, it can also remind us to care for the woman we so often leave until last.

Ourselves... 🤍

Sometimes the most helpful thing we can do isn't think our way through the moment.

It's to pause.

To notice our breath.

To gently return to our bodies.

This simple breathing practice won't make life's challenges disappear, but it can help create a little more space before taking the next step.

One breath at a time. 🤍

Never forget: Your breath is one of the simplest ways of communicating with your nervous system.

I've come to think of movement as one of life's powerful medicines.

Not because it fixes us.

But because it has a remarkable way of changing what's happening within us.

Movement doesn't only shape our muscles and strengthen our bodies.

It influences the way we think, the way we feel, the way we breathe, the way we relate to ourselves, and the way we meet the world around us.
In many ways, movement changes the you of you.

Perhaps we've narrowed our understanding of movement.

We often think of it as exercise.

Something measured by steps, calories, heart rate, or performance.

But while exercise is certainly movement, movement is so much more than exercise.

Sometimes movement is a walk beneath the winter sun.

Sometimes it's dancing in your kitchen.

Sometimes it's stretching your spine after hours at a desk, rolling your shoulders, flexing your feet, or taking a few slow, intentional breaths that invite your body to soften.

Sometimes it's vigorous, expressive, joyful, and full of energy.

Other times it's slow, restorative, almost imperceptible.

Both matter.

Because movement isn't simply something we do.

It's an experience that changes us from the inside out.

It nourishes our tissues, supports our nervous system, restores vitality, creates capacity, and reminds us that we are alive.

For me, movement has never been about exercise alone.

It's about creating experiences that help us reconnect with ourselves.

That's why 𝐢𝐧𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 offers two different pathways.

𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 - a gentle practice of movement, breathwork, somatic practices, and nervous system-informed exercises that invite your body to slow down, restore, and build greater resilience.

And 𝑨𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒕 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒕 - a joyful exploration of dance, music, artistry, and community, where movement becomes a celebration as much as a practice.

Different experiences.

The same invitation.

Move intentionally.

Move to remember your aliveness.

Because movement isn't only medicine for the body.

It's "medicine" for the whole of you. 🤍

Over the years, I've come to know that ballet isn't only for the young or the professional dancer. It's something we can return to at any stage of life. Its beauty isn't found in perfection, but in the way it invites us to move, to learn, and to reconnect with ourselves.

As women, life often asks so much of us. We care for families and loved ones, build careers, support friends, and carry responsibilities that can leave very little space for ourselves. Somewhere amongst all the giving, it's easy to forget that we, too, need to be nurtured.

For just one hour, the outside world can wait.

The music begins, the mind grows quieter, and your attention returns to the present moment. You move, you breathe, you concentrate, and little by little, you begin to feel restored.

One of the things I love most about ballet is that it reminds us we never stop learning. Our minds are challenged as much as our bodies. We discover new skills, solve new movement patterns, and experience the quiet satisfaction that comes with growing in something simply because we love it.

In a world that often measures us by how much we do for others, there is something deeply meaningful about learning for ourselves.

That is what I hope my classes offer.

A place where women can move with purpose, care for their bodies, challenge their minds, and experience the timeless elegance of ballet. A place where progress is celebrated, laughter is shared, friendships are formed, and everyone is welcomed exactly as they are.

For my young adults, it's often an opportunity to come home to something familiar - to rediscover a love of dance, reconnect with their bodies, and find a little breathing space in the midst of studying, working, and finding their place in the world.

If you've ever wondered whether ballet is still for you, perhaps this is your invitation.

✨ 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒:

🩰 Mondays - Intermediate Adult Ballet | 6:00 PM

🩰 Tuesdays - Beginner Plus Adult Ballet | 4:30 PM

🩰 Wednesdays - Intermediate Adult Ballet | 5:15 PM

🩰 Thursdays - Young Adult Intermediate/Advanced Ballet (ages 18–29) | 5:45 PM

Because ballet has never really been about age. It's about giving yourself the opportunity to keep growing, to keep learning, and to rediscover the joy of movement.

In a world that so often asks us to keep moving, doing, planning, and thinking, it can be surprisingly easy to lose touch with ourselves.

We spend so much time in our heads that we sometimes forget to notice what our bodies might be carrying.

𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 @ 𝐃𝐮𝐬𝐤 is an invitation to do something different...

..To step out of the noise, the mental clutter, and the endless to-do lists for a little while.

To slow down.

To breathe.

To move gently.

To simply be.

Perhaps that's why this class feels especially fitting in winter.

Winter has a way of inviting us into a slower rhythm. A season that gently reminds us that rest has its place too.

✨️Held in the late afternoon, as the day begins to wind down, Restorative Motion @ Dusk offers a gentle transition into the evening through movement, breathwork, somatic practices, nervous system-informed exercises, and moments of stillness.✨️

Whether you're looking for a slower-paced pause, a meaningful self-care practice, gentle support for your nervous system, or simply a cosy way to end your Saturday, I'd love to welcome you.

Perhaps it's the pause your body and mind have been asking for.

📆 Saturday, 18 July
🕟 16:30–17:30
📍 The Space, 573 Rossouw Street, The Willows
💚 R150 per person

If you're looking for a nurturing way to slow down this winter, I'd love to welcome you.

Some seasons ask more of us - a difficult relationship; grief, uncertainty; an illness; the quiet accumulation of everyday stress...

Our bodies live these stories with us.

Life won't always become quieter.

Our calenders won't always become lighter.

And the world won't always ask less of us.

But we can learn to practice small moments of intentional pause within it all.

Sometimes that begins with nothing more than a single, intentional breath.

It's a tiny practice really.

A gentle interruption.

A small act of kindness and care for your nervous system.

Choosing a different way to meet the next moment.

There are many ways to describe the Restorative Motion classes.

But sometimes the words of those who experience it say it best. 🤗

One of the hopes I hold for these sessions is that they become more than an hour of gentle movement, conscious breathing, and somatic practices. That they offer a space where the body can soften, the mind can settle, and something within has the opportunity to catch up.

Receiving feedback like this reminds me why these classes exist.

To witness people become more at home in their bodies, discover new resources within themselves, and gradually relate to themselves with greater awareness, compassion, and ease is a privilege I never take for granted. There is something profoundly meaningful about watching people gently expand what feels possible in their bodies and in their lives.

Thank you for trusting the process, for continuing to show up for yourselves, and for allowing me to be part of a small chapter in your journey. 🤍
