🇲🇺🥋 SOLIS ORTUS – INDO PACIFIC CUP 2026 🇿🇦

What an incredible experience for our Solis Ortus team in Mauritius!

The week was about so much more than competition — international training, learning, grading, competing, friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Our karateka had the privilege of training under Okuma Shihan, Naka Shihan, Akiyama Sensei, Kurihara Sensei and Johan Shihan*, alongside karateka from around the world. 🌍🥋

Another very special moment was seeing Sensei Sandy Oosthuizen successfully achieve her Sandan – 3rd Dan at the international grading under Okuma Shihan. ❤️

And then came some fantastic performances on the competition floor:

🥇🥇 Cronje Morkel – Kata & Kumite Gold
🥇🥇 Louise – Kata & Kumite Gold
🥉 Amber – Kumite Bronze
🥉 Hardus – Kumite Bronze
🥈🥈 Minette – Kata & Kumite Silver
🥇🥉 Emma – Kata Gold & Kumite Bronze
🥉🥇 Elouise – Kata Bronze & Kumite Gold

🏆 13 MEDALS
🥇 6 Gold | 🥈 2 Silver | 🥉 5 Bronze

We are incredibly proud of the results, but even more proud of the growth, courage and experience our karateka gained throughout this journey.

Thank you to our coaches, parents, families and our SA JKA family for all the support.

We return home with medals, new knowledge, great memories and plenty of motivation.

We celebrate. We learn. We grow.

And then...

WE GET BACK TO WORK. 👊🔥

Some moments mean more than medals or results.

Hardus Van Jaarsveld from Solis Ortus
this was one of those moments for me.

To stand next to the tatami and watch you compete at this level, knowing how much you have grown, how much work you have put in, and how many hours we have shared in the dojo, made me incredibly proud.

As your Sensei, I have watched your karate develop.

As your coach, I have had the privilege of helping guide you through the difficult sessions, the small adjustments, the frustrations, the breakthroughs and the moments where everything starts coming together.

Your journey through the Indo Pacific Cup was a tough one. You fought Mauritius in the first round, Russia in the second round, Russia again in the third round, and then Japan in the fourth round / semi-final.

Your semi-final against top karateka Kurihara Sensei was incredibly close and went all the way to Sakidori — first to score.

But what made me even prouder was not simply how close the match was.

It was seeing the karateka you have become.

And then to hear Shihan
compliment you and say that you scored the best point of the Indo Pacific Cup was a very special moment — for you, and for me as your Sensei and coach.

Hardus, I am proud of you.

Proud of your performance. Proud of your growth. And proud to have been able to walk part of this karate journey alongside you.

Enjoy this achievement, but stay humble.

Keep learning. Keep working. Keep training.

There is still much more to come.

Proud Sensei. Proud Coach. Proud of you.

🥋🇲🇺 SANDAN ACHIEVEMENT – SENSEI SANDY OOSTHUIZEN 🇿🇦🥋

What a special day for the Solis Ortus JKA Karate Club family!

A massive congratulations to Sensei Sandy Oosthuizen, who successfully passed her Sandan – 3rd Dan grading today in Mauritius! 🥋❤️

Achieving your next Dan grade is always a significant milestone, but doing so at an international grading, alongside karateka from different countries and under 7th Dan Okuma Shihan from Japan, makes this an experience that will never be forgotten. 🇯🇵🌍

Behind this achievement are years of training, commitment, perseverance and countless hours in the dojo.

We have seen the journey behind this grade — the good sessions, the difficult ones, the sacrifices, the doubts and, most importantly, the determination to keep going.

Today all that hard work was rewarded.

Sensei Sandy, we are incredibly proud of you — not only for the grade you achieved today, but for the dedication and character that brought you to this point.

You worked for it.
You earned it.
And today you can proudly say:

🥋 3RD DAN – SANDAN! 🥋

Congratulations from your entire Solis Ortus Karate family and our SAJKA (South African Japan Karate Association) family. 🇿🇦❤️

Thank you to everyone within SA JKA who has supported and encouraged Sandy throughout her journey and who shared this very special moment with us here in Mauritius.

Another special chapter has been written in her karate journey, and we couldn't be prouder.

Congratulations, Sensei Sandy! ❤️🥋
