Thatch is a build up of organic matter in the canopy and upper root zone, that builds up over time as a byproduct of mowing as grass clippings left behind migrate into the sward and upper root zone.
Removing thatch helps for better drainage by removing the thatch layers, improves gas and exchange and help nutrition and water reach the roots.
Giving the plant the best possible opportunity to recover and achieve high quality playing surfaces going in the growing season.
