After some inactivity on our page for a while we are back with a bang!

Competitive angling is not something we have done for some time but considering the year we have had we could just not resist indulging again.

Two weeks ago Morne and I fished the 3rd Leg of the 2021 Carp Haven Competition and in short we nailed it!

Fishing a rather unfavoured Swim 1 we had 25 runs, landing 17 weighers and 4 non weighers for a total bag weight of 169.93kg. The biggest fish was 13.8kg

We had our first fish, which was a non weigher, on the drop of the first cast on the stroke of the 5pm start...and the fist of our weighers 10 minutes later. The action continued thick and fast after that.

To put our achievement in perspective we caught more than all the other 6 swims combined and a massive 119.99kg ahead of the second placed swim. This all whilst fish were spawning...

We also caught a massive 28% of all the fish caught over the 4 Qualifying legs, and whilst we fell short of the 200kg mark, we ufortunately lost four decent fish which would have got us there.

The final is in early 2022...and we firmly have our sights set on a 250kg winning bag!

Another very succesful weekend at Carp Haven for Morne and I, once again in less than ideal conditions.

We however stuck to our guns and continued to base our strategy around our Krill mix with some variations on the theme, once again we continued to feed very liberally strongly believing that the Carp Haven fish are voracious feeders.

In short we had 14 for the weekend capped by a new lake record with only one fish under 10kg.

Our next session takes us to a new swim...watch this space!

So there is nothing we like more than special captures on our baits, in our books it's not always about the weight, in fact in most cases its largely irrelevant.

However every now and then it's definitely all about the weight...and in this case it's a very auspicious such occurrence.

This past weekend I had the honour and privelege to witness my long time angling partner Morne smash a confirmed lake record, he is now the very deserved holder of the new Carp Haven record at 19.1kg!!!

What makes it even more of an achievement is that the previous record stood since 2019.

Congratulations Morne, this is really a prestigious achievement, on only your 5th session there. Keep them coming

Last but by no means least myself and Morne were back at Carp Haven this past weekend. Our session started pretty rushed as we both arrived late on friday just before sunset, was a scramble to get set up and lines in.

The weekend started very slow...we only managed two fish between friday night and sunday morning, however we were rewarded with a couple of very decent fish after ringing the changes. The fishing were also by now clearly well and truly on our bait with all of the sunday captures venting large amounts of our bait.

Despite the tough fishing it was once again awesome to be on the bank with my partner in crime and figure out a few more pieces to the Carp Haven puzzle

So there is nothing we like more than feedback about big hits on our baits...and so for the second session in a row at Florida Nathan and Donovan had another bumper session.

Between them they had 19runs with 17 landed...the pick of the fish anabsolute stand out capture in the form of a 14.54kg Ghostie.🤩🤩🤩

So it's Congratulations time again...this time to Rynhard for taking the overall heaviest bag to secure another win at the May RAC monthly comp. Fishing in tough conditions he managed 5 fish for a combined weight of 48kg.

Very well done on the victory🏆🏆🏆

Also having a cracking session this past weekend at Florida lake was Nathan and his mate

Using a custom version of our Krill mix along with matching bottom and balanced hookbaits, they had a pulsating 19 runs with 18 landed in two days topped by an excellent 12kg commen.

Amongst the mix were two stunning mirrors, the future bodes well for Florida!

Seems its been a brilliant weekend again for some of our good friends.

First up is Rynhardt who had a brilliant session at Florida lake, with an excellent average size and only one non weigher.

Kudos to him though for topping his catches with a stunning 14.9kg Commen. I believe its the biggest fish out of Florida for a while. Very well done Rynhardt, excellent angling👌🏻👌🏻

Here at Alchemy it is not often that we are lost for words , or superlatives. However after what we experienced this past weekend at Carp Haven I am of the very firm opinion that there are simply no words to that will do justice to what happened.

This past friday to sunday yours truly and my long time angling parter, and very close friend Morne, had our very biggest angling hit ever. I have said it before and I will say it again; Morne is the best Specimen Carp angler I know - period. His all round angling ability, attention to detail and casting prowess is something to behold. It's an honour to fish alongside him

Using an improved version of our Krill mix, and plenty of it, our session produced over 50 fish!For the record there were 3 x 30's to 33lb with over 10 fish of 28/29lbs. There were several occasions where we battled to keep rods in the water with numerous double ups. As you can see the Carp Haven fish are immaculate, takes are blistering and the fights ferocious. We did not even photograph or weigh many fish.

We some very valuble insight gained at the venue we are busy plotting our return...watch this space...
