Dear Committee Members, Players, Supporters and Members,

Langeberg Chess Club would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Robertson Rugby Football Club and Ashton United Rugby Club for supporting our club and, most importantly, our children โ€” the youth of the future.
We sincerely appreciate the opportunities you have given Langeberg Chess Club to be part of your rugby activities and to set up stalls to raise funds for our young chess players. When we approached you for support, you did not hesitate to give us an opportunity. That kindness means more to us than words can express.
Every fundraiser helps us provide our players with chess equipment, transport to tournaments, tournament opportunities and development opportunities.
Our mission is to bring chess to the community, giving children from different schools and backgrounds the opportunity to participate in something positive. Through chess, we aim to develop confidence, discipline, patience, problem-solving, critical thinking and responsible decision-making.
We are especially grateful for the support of community sporting organisations such as yourselves. Rugby and chess may be different sports, but both play an important role in developing our youth and bringing communities together.
We would also like to thank everyone who supported our stalls by purchasing food, supporting our fundraising activities, making a contribution or simply showing encouragement.
To Robertson Rugby Football Club and Ashton United Rugby Club, thank you for believing in our vision and for helping us create opportunities for our children.
From the players, parents, coaches and committee of Langeberg Chess Club โ€” THANK YOU! โค๏ธโ™Ÿ๏ธ
May both clubs continue to grow from strength to strength, and may we continue working together to build a brighter future for our youth.

Langeberg Chess Club Junior Players Shine at Kleinmond Chess Tournament

On 29 August 2026, the junior players of Langeberg Chess Club proudly participated in the Kleinmond Chess Tournament. It was a day filled with challenges, new experiences, learning opportunities and the chance for our young players to showcase their skills on the chessboard.
The day brought cold and rainy weather, but this could not stop our players from giving their best. Despite the difficult conditions, the children arrived with enthusiasm, determination and a positive attitude. They showed that true sportsmanship is not only about winning, but also about commitment, courage and the willingness to learn.
Every player who participated gained valuable experience. Chess is more than just moving pieces on a board โ€” it teaches children important life skills such as problem-solving, patience, concentration, discipline, confidence and respect for others.
Our junior players proved that they are ready to compete against other young chess talents. They played with focus, developed strategies, faced challenges and learned from every game they played. Every victory, every loss and every difficult moment forms part of their journey as growing chess players.
Langeberg Chess Club is extremely proud of every player who represented the club at Kleinmond. Their participation reflects the hard work put in during training sessions, the support from parents, and the dedication of everyone involved in developing young chess players in our community.
A special thank you goes to the organisers of the Kleinmond Chess Tournament for hosting a wonderful event. We also thank all the parents, supporters and everyone who travelled with us and encouraged our players throughout the day.
These young players continue to show that with dedication, teamwork and passion, great things can be achieved. Langeberg Chess Club remains committed to bringing chess to the community and creating opportunities for children to grow, learn and become future champions.
Well done to all our junior players โ€” you proved that cold and rainy weather cannot stop the spirit of a true chess champion! โ™Ÿ๏ธ

Langeberg Chess Club โ€“ Bringing Chess to the Community

Langeberg Chess Club is different because our mission is not only to create a place where players come to play chess โ€” we take chess directly into the community. We believe that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, should have the opportunity to learn, enjoy and benefit from the game of chess.
Our approach is simple: we bring chess to the community instead of waiting for the community to come to chess. We visit schools, communities and areas where children may not always have access to organised chess activities. By taking chess closer to the people, we create opportunities for young minds to discover their talent, develop confidence and build important life skills.
Chess is more than just a game. It teaches children patience, discipline, problem-solving, decision-making and respect. Through our programmes, we aim to use chess as a tool for youth development, education and positive change. We focus not only on winning tournaments but also on building character and creating role models within our communities.
Langeberg Chess Club works with children from different backgrounds and provides them with a safe environment where they can learn, compete and grow. We encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and friendship while giving players the chance to represent their schools, towns and communities at tournaments.
Our vision is to make chess accessible to everyone. We want children who may never have had the opportunity to play chess before to experience the benefits of this powerful game. By bringing chess to the community, we are opening doors, creating opportunities and helping to develop the next generation of thinkers and leaders.
Langeberg Chess Club is not just a chess club โ€” we are a community development organisation using chess to inspire, empower and change lives.
