HOW TO MAKE SURE YOUR TRAINING DOESN'T GO STALE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!
Taking care of yourself and your health, whether your training at home or traveling this holiday season is key to maintaining your training.
~Get enough sleep : Getting enough sleep during the holidays is incredibly important. It helps your body recover better and keeps you rested in between sessions.

HEALTH AND SWIM TRAINING.
As a swimmer, it is crucial to maintain good health to perform at your best in the pool. Firstly, prioritize proper nutrition by consuming a balanced diet rich in lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Hydration is also essential; drink plenty of water before and after workouts to stay well-hydrated. Additionally, incorporate strength training exercises into your routine to build muscle and prevent injuries. Regular stretching is equally important to maintain flexibility and improve swimming technique. Lastly, make sure to get enough restorative sleep each night, as it aids in recovery and boosts overall performance. At Swim Stars part of our work is teaching water safety even when you are not swimming in a controlled environment such as the training pool here with us or at your pool at home perhaps.
Here are some tips on how to be safe wherever you choose to go for a swim.
1.Buddy up! Always swim with a partner, every time — whether you're swimming in a backyard pool or a dam or even a small river.
Even experienced swimmers can become tired or get muscle cramps, which can make it hard to get out of the water. When people swim together, they can help each other or go for help in an emergency.
2. Get skilled. Learn how to swim properly. It's good to be prepared and never to late to learn.
3. Know your limits. If you're not a good swimmer yet or you're just learning to swim, don't go in water that's so deep you can't touch the bottom and don't try to keep up with skilled swimmers.
4. Swim in safe areas only. It's always best to swim in places that are supervised by a lifeguard. No one can anticipate changing ocean currents, rip currents, sudden storms, or other hidden dangers. If something does go wrong, lifeguards are trained in rescue techniques.
Be careful about diving. Diving injuries can cause head injury, permanent spinal cord damage, paralysis, and sometimes even death. Protect yourself by only diving in areas known to be safe, such as the deep end of a supervised pool. If an area has "No Diving" or "No Swimming" signs, pay attention to them.
We often get asked:" Why enroll in swimming classes?"
Well, it's simple, knowing how to swim is a critical life skill and can also be a life-saving skill.
Knowing how to swim and feeling comfortable around water will greatly reduce the risk of drowning. By learning basic skills like floating, water-treading, and breathing, you will be able to help yourself and others in case of accidentally falling into the water.
At Swim Stars Swim School all ages and all levels of swimming skill are welcome! Come learn how to swim with the best in the West!
